I doubt that it will happen again for Covid but for the next pandemic, whatever they take out of the hat, it might happen again. I don't really see politicians and BIG parts of society saying that EVERYTHING was madness. Somehow I don't really have trust that this stuff won't have a fast comeback when the next shit arrives.

The only places I am seeing this online is where people are stirring things up by suggesting that lockdowns are coming again and they obviously have an agenda by suggesting it.

I haven't seen anyone actually proposing it or any proof that governments are even thinking about it. If you have please post.

Don't be fooled. Covid lockdowns were done partly as a test to see how much control the governement can get away with. Now that they have that data, don't be surpised if other "emergencies" come up from time to time. To be clear, I'm not saying that it was the only or number one reason but the population was tested and the the results were noted.

Actually no one here is making panic, just saying we will probably see stuff like that again, just not for Covid. But I wouldn't be surprised about any new pandemic coming around the corner at some point. They saw that people will follow this kind of measures and even denounce their neighbors if the mask doesn't sit tight enough or when they have one more person than allowed in their household.
Especially Germans are the masters in this discipline.
Again, I don't think lockdowns will come back NOW for covid, but maybe sooner than we imagine.

But what I am seeing online is a lot of XXX political party is planning on brining back lockdowns. You need to support YYY party now.

I'm just asking for proof as it seems these posts have an agenda.

Yeah, I also don't deny that there is lots of stuff going on online, without any real evidence and all of that. Also one of the big problems all along. It was always easy to laugh about people with a different opinion concerning this subject, cause of all of the unfiltered BS that's happening online.

Personally I hope that lockdowns will not come back, especially not now and I don't see any indications for it. I just don't rule it out for more serious times.

If you see it at conspiracy crap, then why does someone's opinion bother you? Practically everything gets turned into a political party issue now, instead of weighing the facts and understanding human nature. If you don't believe the governements of the world have an interest in controlling the people in any manner, then you have nothing to worry about. Carry on.

On the one hand, I hope and believe that most governments saw the folly of mass lockdowns (remember "two weeks to flatten the curve"? How'd that work out?). On the other hand, I still see about half of my students wearing masks like a fashion accessory these days. With that many people willing to "mask up", it seems that SE Asian countries would face less resistance from the populace if they imposed another lockdown.

That's for the pollution here. Asians have been wearing face masks for decades especially on public transport for hygiene and respect. Japan. HK. Etc

Honestly I still think much more countries and societies WOULD easily fall in line again. Many Asian countries/people seem more raw at the first look but are actually much more used to control and stand "united" than many western countries/societies. Even there no one was really able to stop any of this before the governments didn't lift it.

The basic tenor in the west was "pandemic of the unvaccinated", those who don't wear masks or follow every guideline until self destruction basically kill people, children kill their grandparents and please denounce your neighbor. And the big majority was there for it and in line and will be there for it again another time.

Conspiracy theories are one thing, trusting the governments or have trust that your good neighbor doesn't call the Waffen SS/Gestapo or whatever on you is a whole other thing.

In Lampung they, the gov still recommends wearing mask. Not anything mandatory.

Still some Covid around but no one is talking yet about any new variations.

Flu is spreading pretty quickly in the schools at all levels.

TB is a pretty big problem right now and I know the Gov has been taking a serious look at what's going on. From some of the numbers I have heard, kampungs are getting hit at around 35%. Indonesia doesn't like to declare and possible health emergencies. Looks bad. I think the need to call all this TB as a epidemic.

Around 20 percent of people in malls here wear mask. Air quality is not a problem. Wife and I wear mask whenever we leave the house. In 3 years, no covid, no flu, no colds, no nothing. We do believe that wearing mask definately helped in controlling the spread of covid.
