Michael vs Michael. šŸŽÆ What a great game.

What a dominance of Red Bull. Hopefully 2023 will not become boring.

Nyck de Vries had mixed feelings about his debut in Formula 1 for AlphaTauri. The 28-year-old Frisian Indo finished fourteenth in the Grand Prix of Bahrain, one lap behind winner Max Verstappen. A place in the top 10 and thus points for the World Cup remained out of reach though.

ā€œIt was okay,ā€ said the newcomer to Formula 1 at Viaplay. ā€œA reasonable comeback after this whole weekend.ā€ De Vries always finished in the rear in the training sessions and did not get further than nineteenth place in the qualifiers. From the last row of the grid, the AlphaTauri driver managed to gain a few places in the race.

Does The Netherlands allow dual nationalities, for those who voluntarily acquire another nationality?? Or is it part of the exception ?? If not are these kids aware of they will lose their Dutch nationality ??

"Are you 18 or older and do you want to become a Dutch citizen? Then you are not allowed to have dual nationality after your naturalisation. This means that under Dutch law you must renounce your other nationality or nationalities. However, there are exceptions"

"You are not allowed to have dual nationality if you are Dutch and adopt another nationality. Then you will automatically lose your Dutch nationality. It does not matter whether you live in the Netherlands or abroad. This is provided by Dutch law. However, there are exceptions"

Under the current Dutch Citizenship Act, you can keep dual nationality and multiple passports for as long as you live, provided you always carry a valid Dutch passport or identity card and do not voluntarily obtain another nationality.
Maybe this will help to understand. Marocco people will never loose their citizenship, even if they are Dutch citizens, like second and third generation. This can create problems of course.

There are quite some (17) countries which citizenship one can not renounce. So that might make you wonder how the Indonesianā€˜s view on that is. Obviously they leave that door ajar:

Indonesian citizens lose their citizenship if they:
-obtain another nationality of his own accord;
-not refusing or not giving up another nationality, while the person concerned has the opportunity to do so;

So people from these countries who would become Indonesian to play for the national teams or other reasons, shouldn’t encounter big problems.

The problem is that Israel have qualified for the tournament, and the Indonesian islamic groups have already started making threats of violence against the players and the tournament. So I think we can all guess how this one will end.
Just look at what happened to Ahok if you want to see how these group have influence to the decision makers. The problem here there are a lot of people who could easily be mobilised just by giving them lunch and pocket money.
Politicians need their support to get their votes.

It makes you wonder If this guy doesn’t regret not going to Real. The partying cry-baby didn’t play of course; he’s being operated in Doha.

He knows where it all went wrong*: ā€œMercedes should have listened to me and should have admitted that!ā€

As usual Ferrari could/should have won, however this time they didn’t shoot in their own foot but had genuine technical issues. Alonso, the oldtimer, drove a great race with AM.

*Nor Hamilton nor Russell made the podium.

Getting a lot of criticism for signing ā€˜oldtimer’ Trossard in January, I don’t think the Gunners will regret it now. Not on the level of a De Bruyne of course (and in different positions) but still, nice assists….

Normally I prefer watching the Tirreno Adriatico but this year Paris Nice has been rather interesting too.

The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (24) dominated the whole race and even the final stage around Nice. With three stage victories and the overall triumph, he was absolutely superior.

I don’t see anybody who can stop him in de Tour de France this year, Jonas Vingegaard (Rasmussen) didn't even come close. He won already twice of course, last year Vingegaard got somewhat lucky and it shows you never know what can happen, but this was a masterclass.

Torn ligaments ……It would cost 100 juta (approx. $6,500, €6.000), payable before the operation.

A €111 million operation 😳: Neymar put his future in the hands of two doctors in Doha, namely the two renowned surgeons Dr. James Calder (UK) and Dr. Pieter D'Hooghe (BE).

On their way to the finals of the Champions League.

Almost a double hattrick…

The completely unknown Violette AC from Haiti kicked the top club Austin FC out of the American Champions league. An unparalleled achievement in itself, but all the more so because the club has not played a competition for almost a year. You can see the summary in the video (CONCACAF blocked it so you need to open it in YouTube).

The fairy tale begins not so long ago, but very far from here. Austin headed to Haiti on March 8 for the first leg. The US club sees the game as the perfect opportunity to give all its reserves some playing minutes. After all, what could those Haitians do against one of the best teams in the American MLS?

That rather nonchalant attitude was not entirely unjustified. Austin should not fear Violette for some valid reasons. The market value of barely €150,000 euros, for example, only a fraction of that of Austin (around €50 million). But perhaps even more because the club has not played a league game for almost 300 days. Due to the civil war in the country, the Haitian competition has been suspended indefinitely.

For 90 minutes, Port-Au-Prince is on fire. With 3-0 an unthinkable score is on the board. Austin flies back to Texas with a lot of headaches.

Fast forward to Wednesday evening for the second game. Austin has learned its lesson and has selected a solid team, while Violette has to make do with a total of just 14 players, the rest could not travel to Texas due to issues with their visa. It turns into a real thriller. Goalkeeper Decius is in an unseen shooting booth, he must have felt like Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. Austin has 35 (!) shots on goal, but they only score 2 times.

So Violette advances to the quarterfinals of the American Champions League. There a confrontation with Club León (Mexico) or Tauro FC (Panama) awaits.

Arsenal lost from Sporting Lisbon after penalties.

Pedro GonƧalves scored a beautiful goal.

As Stephen , the Dutch are not so happy with the Portuguese victory.

Thatā€˜s because they could miss out on an additional Champions League ticket in the ā€˜24/25 season.

What makes this more amazing is Violette FC didn't have a full match day squad due to visa issues.

F1: Today the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Qualification has ended in a huge disappointment for Max Verstappen. The two-time world champion had an engine problem, meaning he will have to start today’s race from the 15th place. Teammate Sergio PĆ©rez eased the pain for Red Bull by taking the pole position. It will be an interesting race.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (41) writes history in Serie A with first goal since January 2022. It made Zlatan the oldest (goal)scorer ever in the Italian Series A. The Swedish striker of AC Milan took a penalty against Udinese. Ibrahimovic is 41 years and 166 days old.

The F1 race itself was quite interesting, but even more so the relationship between Perez and Verstappen. It seems the competition between the two really took off. Of course the fact Max collected one additional point for the fastest lap to keep his number one spot in the ranking, didn’t help.

But as we saw in the past between Senna, Prost and Schumacher, rivalry makes this sport interesting.

End of this month Australia.

Italy missed its start in the European Championship qualifying battle. England proved too strong with 1-2 and was able to win against Italy on Italian soil for the first time since 1961. Harry Kane became the record top scorer of The Three Lions with his 54th international goal. At the Azzurri, the 'surprising' striker choice Mateo Retegui scored during his debut.

Coach Martinez of the Portuguese national team did exactly what he did with the Belgian team, use old established names instead of new talent that is in great shape. Well, it works out against dwarf football countries I guess.
