Meet Ian, the poor bule

I imagine as hes in the media , immigration will pick him up and deport him .
 
Anglian its me Ian, your homeless brother. I have been calling but nobody picks up the phone. Please pick up the phone before Immigration catches up to me. I just need lodging for the next 20 to 30 years, if possible.

Mind seriously though, one must have sympathy, as mentioned by Lifelongexpat his wife and family took him for a ride, but then perhaps he has problems, either way you have to feel a bit sorry for him, indonesia isn’t like the UK, nowhere to sign on here
Is the British Embassy aware, could they help

Yes, if it is true it is sad whatever the circumstances and hopefully he can get whatever help he needs.
 
As far as I know the only help this guy will get from the uk embassy is a ticket out ,and of course he will have to pay the cost back at a later date. I know other countries such as Italy have a social fund , but I never heard of that at the uk embassy ,correct me if im wrong .
 
Nothing free at the BE, but from the photos the poor chap looks a bit tatty
 
just a question, if he is back to UK, will he be able to get food and better life?
I met someone from UK ( another member of the previous forum) , who told me that he prefers to stay in Indonesia after retired as his pension money wont allow him to enjoy life as much as if he stays here. as the price of food , accommodation etc is cheaper here.
 
Latest news, immigration tangerTan picked him up, transferred it to jakarta immigration.

Maybe he'll be back home soon

Ya, of course uk is more expensive than here , but in uk he will entitled to social security and assisted housing, free healthcare etc, he wont be living "high on the hog" but for sure better than living next to an open sewer in a bamboo hut .
 
Looking at the photos, it does appear he needs some medical help, he will definitely get that back in the UK, I don’t know how old he is but if he has paid his dues he will get his full pension, his age is quite indeterminate from the photos, it’s hard to figure out how an expat gets so short of funds , but we had read about it happening before
