Lifetime Kitap processing time

Talking about stamps in passports, kitap and re-entry permits.

I recently got my (first) kitap and a stamp for re-entry valid until 9 march next year.
However, I just checked my passport validity, valid until 28 October 2024.

I am planning to go for a trip to my home country next May or June, but to enter Indonesia again, my passport need to be valid for a minimum of 6 months prior to departure. 😕😕

So, I need to go to the Embassy here for a new passport.
What's next?

I have to go to kantor Imigrasi in Jakarta for a re-entry stamp in my new passport, right?
Anyone knows if that is just 1 visit or does it takes months for this procedure?

Anything else I should know?

Make sure you have your MERP stamped in your passport. If you leave without a current MERP your Kitap becomes invalid and you have to start the process all over again.

The re-entry permit (MERP) should be for 2 years, if you just recently got the KITAP the MERP should expire in 2026.

As for your passport, process a new one at your embassy. When you have the new one, bring the new and old to Imigrasi and they will process a transfer. There is no fee. If you arrive early in the morning and all the right people are in the office, it may be done the same afternoon, but picking it up a day or two later would be common as well.

When one contemplates on this procedure ... really bizarre.

Another "money machine".

Merps are one and two year. Take a pick.

I asked my agent about the Merp and he said I had it in my Passport? Can anyone show a picture of what it looks like, so I can verify if I have it. Thanks

Jakarta Selatan is empty these days, they even had time to reno the whole floor and change it around (Lt3) I text my agent "at the U turn" and he meets me in the lobby and I go up and in and out in 30 seconds

Awesome

Just picked up my KITAP SH which took about 2 months in DPS, Bali. Got a piece of paper only as apparently the machine that prints the plastic cards is "rusak".

Related question: Now that I have this new KITAP, I need to get my KTP and SIM renewed. I am being told that we now need to pay for a new KK bc the permit number on the KTAP has changed. And this even though the only number on the KK is my NIK, which hasn't changed. Does this sound fishy?
Thanks in advance!

Your Kitap number and passport number are both on the KK (box 14, box 15), so it is possible that in theory you have to get it updated each time one of those changes.
However since a KK has no expiry date, hopefully it doesn't cause a problem if you just leave it as it is.
Having said that, I wonder if they would refuse to issue the new KTP until the KK was updated? I can't remember whether or not you have to submit your KK when you apply for a new KTP.

Thank you! I see those numbers now! Yes - I am being asked for KK to renew KTP & SIM. What a pain!!!! Does anyone know if the KTAP SH number changes again at the 5 year reporting? That would be crazy - every 5 yrs a new KK??!!!!

No charge for KK and KTP at Dukcapil.
Ha - not in Bali! New regulation says 400k+ per year for foreigner to have KTP! What kinda BS is that?! And pay for KK change as well. But they can't show me where the regulation is posted...

There is no regulation. It is called "admin".

Form of administrative rent-tributary taxation. It is not in any regulations. The service itself is free.
