Lifetime Kitap processing time

If your husband was able to talk them down that further reinforces that this is not a legitimate fee.

Show them UU No. 24 Tahun 2013, Pasal 79A and 95B

No fees allowed! An official that tries to charge a fee can be thrown in jail for 6 years and fined 75 million.
Just take a look at Google reviews for Capil Gianyar - ALL TIME WORST!

This is the typical procedure. They will need to see the KK to issue a KTP because the address on your KTP is linked to your residential address as stated on your KK.
That's the problem here. Those documents are linked, e.g. when one has a new passport, one has to go to 'kantor imigrasi' to do a 'mutasi pasport'. Then go to 'kantor dukcapil' to do a 'mutasi KK'.

Issuing a KK is 'sooo tempo dulu'. An outdated 'prosedur'. The change could easily be done by an employee online in the system, then send the changes by mail to the person to verify it.

Thrue in many cases, but some countries in the Western world are heading to the Indonesian bureaucracy efficiency metrics as well.

First rule of making requested payments. Ask where the cashier is located because you keep official receipts for everything you pay for because you want to make sure you are following the laws. No receipt, no pay because it's an illegal request for payment.

I have life time KTAP. Had to renew KTP and KK. No charge. KK became family KK with my wife being head of household. KK number was changed for her to my number. My NIK has not changed throughout all the various permits from Immigration. My KTP must be renewed when KITAP is reported to Immigration. 5 years. There is no charge. My SIMs were issued since KITAS days and so do not align with my KITAP dates and we're always issued for 5 years.

First rule of Indonesian bureacratic corruption: avoid noisy/complaining people that can make difficulties in the business.

I agree with this. If they have one and the civil registry office does not manage it properly, with so many people accessing it, it could cause more harm than good. Let’s not forget about the system they had before, which was compromised by a hacker demanding ransomware. When later revealed they do not back up the data regularity is just the tip of the iceberg. So far, no one seems to have been held accountable for this.

As a general rule in Indonesia, you should always keep proof on hand to show when needed because they will likely ask you for it rather than searching for it themselves. You would be lucky if they manage to find it; otherwise, they might simply refuse to assist you blaming other departments.

That makes me think you’ve never been to a kantor Imigrasi for a renewal or so. You always have to provide copies of practically everything you have. Even when they need the original also.

As well as having copies of everything in a folder I have found it helpful to number every item and then have a page listing the numbers and items. Without this you will find officials laboriously going backwards and forwards trying to find a particular item. If not found immediately so easy to have the folder put aside to be searched again later. The covering page listing numbers and items can make a big difference in processing.

Requesting to see the original document is not unusual. Regarding photocopy, did not they clearly ask for the copies before your visit? Sometimes, this requirement is displayed on a notice on the wall or stated on their website.

I am fully aware about the habit of asking people to bring copies with them in Indonesia. While it might save on photocopy costs, it requires extra time to verify each document, as the data could be easily altered. That is the reason in other countries, it has been a long tradition they do not ask the person the take the photocopy but instead they will make the photocopy directly from the original documents by themselves. Now with scanning, taking picture it makes the job much easier.

This is an example where you have two options: maintain your own records or rely on them to record it for you. There have been few reports where tourists with eVoA leave the country after a few days but when trying to reapply a new visa to re-enter before 30d days elapse, the system blocks them, showing there is still an active visa. Those who did not use the eGate can resolve this issue easily by communicating with them sending the scan of the stamped entry/exit dates on their passport as an evidence, in which they will act by lifting the block immediately, so the person could reapply a new eVoA. However, those using the eGate sometimes face problems if immigration cannot find their entry/exit or too lazy, do not know how to search it on their records.

If you use the eGates there is no stamp in your passport? So what happens the next time the immigration officer looks for your entry stamp?

One might suppose that having placed the passport of the eGate scan then there is some kind of automatic register that shows when you next present the passport. But then how does this help if returning to a home country where part of the point of immigration inspection is to be able to see where you have been? So one might be wrong in supposing anything.

The other curious thing is Australia still clings to paper declaration for customs. What happens to all those millions of forms? Indonesia now has a website declaration process but not really sure how that works. Arriving here. we show an image of that square thing with the dots and you get waved through. Whatever! Almost certainly in another year or two there will be a completely different system that we won't understand either.

Ah, here we go again, thinking that common sense is used here! Tunggu Sebetar, we'll look into it?

The difference between Gianyar and Badung...sigh. My husband was able to get them down to 400k for both.
Assuming you live in Gianyar , at https://gianyarkab.go.id/informasi-publik/berita/dinas-kependudukan-dan-catatan-sipil they say : "...Pembayaran untuk KTP sesuai Perda No. 7 tahun 2010 sebesar Rp. 8000,-" , so going to Perda no.7 tahun 2010 , it states :
1. KTP : Rp8.000 (WNI) , Rp25.000 (WNA)
6. KK Issuance : Rp5.000 (WNI) , Rp15.000 (WNA)

I didn't see any fee for modification/revision .
