Some of the Florida Keys web cams are still operating if anyone wants to take a look. My internet speed isn't good enough right now to bring up many but Southernmost Beach is still easy to open for me.

I tried 5 of the webcams. None were running. There are quite a few, but I don't have the inclination to check all of them as I suspect almost all are off-line. Why bother, especially when the live news coverage is so pervasively nauseating?

That whole website looks like it is down now. But I have found another site http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf/2017/09/watch_irma_florida_web_cams.html which has got a few cams on. I have only looked at the top one so far, which is a live stream of the Key West, but already you can hear the wind there - going to get a lot worse

I was hoping some would stay up as long as possible. I learned of the cam in Ricks bar one visit and every storm since then I was able to watch through their cameras. Even when a big storm was blowing through the cameras stayed up I think maybe due to gensets or the main power stayed on. This storm is a lot bigger and more people evacuated for it. Some I understand did not and if it is still going to be a direct hit on the Keys, some of those staying behind may not be around tomorrow.

I had the Southern Most Beach Resord up for awhile but it didn't stay either. A few of tge others started to open but stopped so I figured it was my internet. Hope all can ride out the storm and stay safe.

There is so much competitive news hype and constant reporting of the most severe projections that its difficult to determine the the truth regarding the storm's intensity once it comes ashore. That does not negate the more certain probability that those not evacuating are idiots, especially those in the Keys.

This has made me so sad & angry... how can these vulnerable people have such an horific outcome in this day & age... in a "care" home. Surely they should have been a priority for the authorities and for those paid to care for them

Eight Hollywood nursing home residents died Wednesday morning in a building left without air conditioning after Irma roared through South Florida, according to Hollywood police and the city.

The home is directly across from a hospital.

Hollywood police have begun a criminal investigation into the deaths at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, 1200 N. 35th Ave. while the Agency for Health Care Administration and Department of Children & Families have begun their own investigations. Hollywood Police Chief Tom Sanchez said precautionary checks would be done on Hollywood’s 42 other nursing homes."

That's a very sad story, especially from the US, we know the hurricane was the worst ever, but I'm sure the owners of the home could have done a bit more to help these elderly people,

I rode out Irma so I guess I was one of those idiots that didn't evacuate, problem was there was nowhere to evac, looking last week it was hard telling where to go, I have to admit I was getting a bit nervous looking at that monster coming at me, luckily(For me/East coast Fl) it rode up the North side of Cuba and knocked the bottom half out or it could of been way worse. Keys are screwed.

The bottled water frenzy has to be the most ridiculous, they had to tell people on the news they can fill containers with tap water if there isn't water left in the stores
