The only thing speciafically rural they have is perhaps the name given in its English translation which is most often "rural bank". BPR means Bank Perkreditan Rakyat and a more exact translation should be perhaps People's Credit Bank.About BPR; that is rural. Which is an explanation why you'd not find so many in Jakarta. I don't think anybody can mention three by heart, let alone make a top 5.
BPRs are found in both cities and kampungs. In fact I don't think that any Kota in Indonesia doesn't have at least a few of them and I am reasonably certain that their volume of activity is far superior in kotas than it is in the kabupatens.
Bank Perkreditan Rakyat are known to serve micro, small and medium sized entrepreneurs, many of them, if not a majority, being located in the cities. With tens of thousands of small entrepeneurs/shop owners in JKT, BPRs have a large market to target.
