Help Needed: Getting a KITAS for Artistic Work in Indonesia

A work permit needs to be obtained from manpower requested from your employer. Rp12,000,000 I believe for one year for a single position. This same company would need to sponsor you for your KITAS unless you are married to WNI and then you would be spouse sponsored but would still need an employer to obtain a work permit for you. You can not just walk in and ask for one. Same for a KITAS.

Ok thank you very much for your answer, my main problem is not about sponsors and employers but more specifically about the kind of job I can do with my KITAS, I mean in Indonesia, work visas are specialized for a specific type of job, meaning the profession I work in is stated on the visa, right? Does that mean I cannot do other types of work? Because TV host, iklan/ads model, fashion model, and actor are all very similar professions—they belong to the same industry, don’t they? So how does it work?

Also, is there any geographical restriction?

Once I obtain a working KITAS, am I free to work anywhere and simply present it whenever a TV channel or production company requires it?
Do you have an employer? If so, they or a local spouse will sponsor you. An employer will apply for your work permit for a specific position. You can only have one work permit and work for one employer. Perhaps some entertainment agency is your employer. They would aquire a work permit for you that would pertain to your work for them but no other work. If you have an employer, best to ask them what they will do for you because like I said, you can't just walk off the street and get a work permit and a KITAS needs a spouse or employer sponsorship unless you set up your own business according to the latest laws.

These kind of work permits go trough impreasariat agencies as they are called here. They will basically arange your engagements with clients here.

Hi everyone,
I'm a foreigner living in Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival, and I'm looking to obtain a KITAS or a proper work permit. My field is in the entertainment industry—I work as an actor, TV host, model (for photoshoots, commercials, and product promotions on social media).
My problem is multi-faceted: I already have managers and have worked on TV series, TV Show, photoshoots, and other projects, but I was never paid due to my lack of a work permit. I accepted this at first for the experience, but now I want to work legally and allow my carrier to evolve.
From my research, I see that a work permit must specify a job title, but here in Indonesia, an actor, TV host, and model are considered different professions. Some locals tell me it doesn’t matter as long as I have a KITAS—does anyone know if this is true?
Additionally, I've seen agencies in Bali offering sponsorship for a fee, but they require me to stay in Bali within their administrative region. I live in the Jakarta area—so if use one of this kind of Agency in Jakarta, is there the same kind of law or rule, what I mean is if I get a KITAS in Jakarta, does that mean I cannot work in cities just next of Jkt like Tangerang (Banten) or Bekasi (West Java)?
This whole process seems quite complicated, and I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance from those who have experience with it. Thanks in advance!
Your agency should be able to to advise you better than any of us here - your job area is distinct so its unlikely we will have anyone with prior experience. If you get a good Visa agent they can advise you also (maybe contact some other foreigner working here in your area and ask them).
You say you have already got a manager and worked for free - this is illegal (working for free is still working in indonesia). So I strongly encourage you to stop any work. If immigration get tipped off you could be deported.
