Garden visitors

Till 3 weeks ago we had 2 cats.
A little black female, called Black Princess, and a big, strong male, Bobby.

Now 3 weeks ago Bobby brought home his g/f...
Obviously VERY pregnant, so I am not going to chase her away. Ok, 1 more mouth to feed...
2 days later she brings one of her previous kids with her...ok, can not kick out.
The next she brings the whole team....

Means we went from 2 cats to 6, not counting the 3 "in the oven" ...

A bit of a problem because we live in a resort and there will be an idiot who doesn't like cats.....
My younger daughter was a cat lover. We had several cats when we lived in Brunei, and they were very affectionate toward her. We found new homes for them with friends when we left Brunei. She missed them so much that, a year later, we visited Brunei to see them. However, she was heartbroken because the cats—especially the ones she loved the most—did not recognize her and even avoided her.

My missus spend rougly 6 weeks here and then 4 weeks in Java at her house.
When she comes back to Bali it takes one or two days for the cats to go close to her.
Maybe forgot her or maybe want to show her they're not happy about her being absent ?
I opt for the latter.

One of the most beautifull cats I had in France 20 years ago.

But she knew she was of a "superior" breed and never mixed with the other "ordinary" cats we had.

Bloody aristocats....

In Australia it is estimated there are up to 5 million feral cats. In Indonesia it is estimated maybe up to 1.5 million stray and feral cats. In Australia it is estimated that more 1 billion wildlife animals are killed by feral cats each year. There is no estimate for Indonesia but it is noticable that there few urban birds.

Yep, I saw a documentary on a Swiss TV channel about the same subject in Switzerland.
There are still birds in the resort I live in , but the cats are just waiting for one to "land".
Most victims are very young ones learning to fly.

It may be worth putting a little time into cage training her, if you are concerned about her nibbling toxic plants and such when you are out or she is unsupervised.
As for toads- mine tend to have learnt the hard way that they don't want to go back for a second taste!
the best way re cage training is to make that her safe and nice place to go so that it is not seen as a punishment prison- lots of videos out there.
I have every faith in you that you will have a well trained and delightful new member of your family. Because you care :) enjoy !
I fully expect you to be on here in several months saying you can't recall what life was like before you had a dog, mainly because they are adorable and funny.
Just a quick update, over the past 7 weeks, he weight has increased from 1.5 kg to 6 kg. Cookie (her name) has received two rounds of vaccinations, but she is still too young for the rabies vaccine. She’s no longer just our "garden visitor", she is permanent resident, super active, roaming around everywhere, hates being kept in a crate or tied up, and very naughty, she likes to bite and chew everything, though he seems to prefer chewing on the coconut fiber used for my orchids rather than rubber toys. Most annoyingly, she loves digging holes, especially in loose soil that’s been prepared for planting. Her teeth are super-sharp, often leaving marks on our hands and feet. The dental stick you mentioned helped us a lot if we don't want to be followed, keep her busy for a while.
she’s fine with dry kibble, and crazy with durian— once even jumped quite high to snatch a piece of durian right before it reached my wife’s mouth! She doesn’t know many commands yet; so far only understands "sit," "go out," and "no."

Very cute puppy. You refer to both her and he. Which is it? And the name? If you are teaching her/he to speak Indonesian you can warn her/he that if she/he does not behave she/he will be sold to a sate vendor.

Oops! Sorry you did mention the name as Cookie which could easily be changed to Sate if he/she doesn't smarten up.

Adorable! My dog loves mango - try her with slivers of that as a treat - might be cheaper than durian :)[edit for subject verb agreement, hopefully it appeases the edit patrol]
