Free meals for children (MBG) is it good as intended ??

Is the Free Meals (MBG) more important than this, disadvantage family properties, life ??

Or human life ?

This disaster occurs not just once in a lifetime, but nearly every year and in some areas, it happens multiple times within a single year.

Wait until they try to find a scapegoat, blaming people in those areas for dumping their rubbish in the river, while they do not provide regulatory services waste collection point where people could easily dispose their rubbish.

Maggots in the meals, glass in the rice: Indonesia’s free school meals tainted by food poisoning

Only insensible people would launch such a large-scale national program like MBG involving so many children, pregnant women without first conducting a trial phase in a corrupt country ? But this is what happens if it’s already included in the manifesto.

VIRAL! South Sulawesi DPRD member's daughter's own 41 MBG kitchens (aka SPPG) across various regions in South Sulawesi her figure is in the spotlight

There is no tender just appoinment. Her father comes from Probowo's party (Gerindra). He used to be investigated for corruption case. People will need to be very naive if they think there is no corruption in the case of this 41 MBG kitchens.

'Ghost Meal' = no meal delivered but caterer get paid anyway.

Parents made to sign "no complaint form".

Madrasah who provide meals from their own kitchen to their students were ordered to stop and accept MBG.

The Free Meals for Children (MBG) program can be beneficial, but only if it is managed properly and corruption is kept under control. It is currently being rolled out full force to full implementation without a proper trial phase. But seriousproblems arise if this process is not handled with care.

The program’s budget has ballooned dramatically, increasing from Rp71b (previous busgeted) to around Rp300b, a fourfold jump with little visible accountability. This raises an important question: where is this money coming from, where is the money going? In reality, it likely means cuts to other departments and public programs and the most part of the money go to the pocket of a few people especially those how manage supply and distribute the meal (SPPGs)

There are also concerns about governance. If officials, the leaders are not conducting a spot checks; and instead focus on foreign travel, surrounding themselves with overly positive reports, 'Asal Bapak Senang (ABG)'.

Also this is what happen if those who come into power with support from multiple groups, they will be pressured to return favours, often through large-scale projects that distribute benefits among many stakeholders rather than prioritising efficiency or impact.

With such a massive budget, it is reasonable to question whether the benefits truly reach children. Assuming that the funds will directly translate into better nutrition is overly optimistic, especially given the early warning signs. What we are seeing now may only be just the beginning of this MBG episode.

On a practical level, the scale of the program also raises feasibility concerns with a lot of false reports. For example, each child get one while fish for lunch. 19,000cows are slaughtered daily for this MBG. Does anyone with common sense believe this ?.   Also, even it were true, but because cows are mainly imported, would it benefit directly to the local economy ??

Prabowo bursts into laughter! Shocked when the National Land Agency (BGN) Chief

Even Mr President, Prabowo who is well known, rarely do a spot check, too busy for foreign travels, bursts into laughter, when the National Land Agency (BGN) Chief, Dadan Hindayana told this BS story !!!

Another interesting case has emerged with the MBG program: a single pair of socks is priced at Rp100,000, contributing to a total of Rp6.9 billion for the project. This means the cost of one pair of adult socks is budgeted higher than a child’s meal itself. Rp3,2T for procurement 65.067 unit for EV Motor Bikes.    Not to mention hiring, paying salary of staffs where some them them are doing almost nothing. Not to mention the ineffective, inefficient, and wasteful training programs for staff working for BGN. Now compare these staffs with some hourly paid teachers (non civil servants) working on remote village, some of these advantage teachers need to walk a few kilometres to teacher, getting paid below minimum regional salary.

In a chit chat with one of our Production Supervisors, he told me that the wife of one of his men worked in the MBG kitchen, and she can bring home "leftover" food so much so that there is no need for her to cook anymore (not even rice). They have 2 teenagers, enough to feed a family of four.

The MBG kitchen must either be a profitable business as every one of them brings food home, or losing money as excessive amount of food is being cooked or prepared.

...worked in the MBG kitchen...can bring home "leftover" food...
We also know of someone who works at one of those kitchens, and apparently she is also able to take food away after she finishes her shift.

This piece discusses the MBG food programme.

In Indonesia’s digital public sphere, a vigilant online community has begun to perform what some have called a “citizen audit,” combing through procurement data and budget allocations tied to the program. Their findings, drawn largely from publicly accessible government databases, have raised questions not only about inefficiency but also about the possibility of systemic corruption.

The National Nutrition Agency’s total budget has surged to Rp 335 trillion in 2026, a fivefold increase from the previous year. Of this, more than 83 percent is sourced from education funds, with the remainder coming from health and economic allocations.

This is currently trending everywhere on social media about MBG Motor, a rebranding of Chinese EV motorbikes procurement. The MBG project manager paying Rp 40-50 million, but similar Chinese EV just cost around Rp10- 20m. A few people who investigated found similar models to Chinese EVs for around Rp 11m. It hasn't been proven, but if all the money was collusion, it's difficult to prove it.The cost of EV motorbike procurement is budgeted for Rp 1.2T.

This is an example of someone investigation posted on a social media: the motorbike was purchased for Rp42 million, while a similar model could be found for around Rp11 million on the market place.

It can take several years to assess the long-term quality of these electric motorbikes. However, by the time the results become clear, many of the people involved in the procurement project may already have been promoted to higher positions.

This procurement project could end up being similar to some elementary school construction projects in certain countries, where the buildings were proven to be of very poor quality despite receiving budgets comparable to those allocated for proper government buildings.

They said they're used for operational purposes, while many honorary teachers in the remote areas of Indonesia are paid less than the minimum wage and walk several kilometers to teach. Furthermore, schoolchildren have to cross rope bridges because the pedestrian bridges have collapsed and not repaired.

Is this related to the MBG food programme? Are these motors purchased for food delivery, but overcharged 200% in the same way as the tablets have been? Sorry, I don't see the connection with the food programme.

Disgusting. Another sellout of Indonesian children -- THE FUTURE of the country sacrificed so that a pack of sleazy cronies can steal. Why do I always think of Africa when I think of the Indonesian 'ruling class'?

These motorbikes are intended for personnel working under the BGN to supervise the nutritious meals program, making sure the meal are nutritious. BGN is the central agency responsible for overseeing the initiative, and its staff are state employees.

Critics argue that while these officials are being provided with free electric motorbikes, many hourly paid private teachers in remote parts of Indonesia earn below the minimum wage and must walk several kilometres just to reach their schools. Meanwhile, some students are forced to cross dangerous rope bridges because proper pedestrian bridges have collapsed and remain unrepaired.

Critics also point out the contrast that these workers are able to become civil servants instantly, whereas many hourly paid private teachers wait decades for the same status. On top of that, these BGN staffs receive free motorbikes as an additional benefit.

In Indonesia state school buildings program are already evidence during Suharto regime. Even the former president Jokowi critise the quality of these school buildings, so the reason he did't trust local contractors to build the government building in IKN the Indonesian new capital.

Who are they, the people working for BGN and the one getting free motorbikes ? Based on the Indonesian corruption watch investigation many of them are the member of 'merah putih', the parties who help the current executive the become ministers, presidents.

I see. This was alluded to in another article... so strange how these abuses of public trust are so obvious. It's almost like a humiliation ritual, letting "the masses" know where we stand (kneel?😂) in the scheme of things.

The state of Indonesian education. (sigh) It makes me so angry to see the youth being neglected and essentially being prevented from reaching full potential.

Jokowi was very good at pretending to be a populist wasn't he? He and his clique certainly understood 'optics'. If you're going to steal, then do it behind closed doors! 😝

oh ja, political patronage. That includes gifts for the Islamic groups too. "Grease the gears" .

The patronage and awarding of contracts will go on, but the obvious theft by overpaying for the items -- is it 200% markup for the tablets/iPad ? How did they think that people wouldn't be upset? The current group running the show are giving Indonesia the middle finger.

I have an example with the Missus grandson (6 old)
She, and all the family are Hindu. The village is 80% muslim, so the local government school is rather "orientated".
So she decided to put him at school at the local Hindu Pura.
The only difference being that instead of being muslim brainwashed, he will be Hindu brainwashed.
Mathemics, science etc...is all secondary to that.....Very sad.
