Extension of my ITAS E31a just costed me an extra 1000 USD

So you admit you entered a country without know the laws regarding visa and immigration. You left it to the last minute and then asked 2 AI chatgp websites for advice.
Now you are crying about it

Fact if you had applied when you should have you would not have overstayed because the date you submit your application and it's received in their system you are fine. If you can't provide the information they ask that's on you Sir.

And yes it clearly states if you leave the country you forfeit the application

Ironic why it's called common sense when clearly etc etc

So what is your current visa status now?

Here legally? Until when? Do you need us to double check you read the date on your visa correctly or asking advice how and what to do next?

Welcome to Indonesia
you cannot start the process to appy to renew a Kitas before 30 days, ok ok maybe they should have start to apply 30 days before to expire not 3 weeks before.

it seems he didn't have the SKTT letter from the previous KITAS right? one thing I don't understand is about the 7.000.000 rp payment, usually we only need to pay when the process is aprove already with all the documents, at least on kitas keluarga.

I don't blame him for that , as SKTT (although being required by Law) is an useless & unknown document .

Wow. That is amazing, esp. coming from you. We know better and I’m not gonna explain it again after 10 years on this forum.

And even if you don’t look on a forum like this one, there are many sources talking about this.

.
I have met quite some WNA over the years who know a civil registration is mandatory but simply don’t feel like doing it. And for them a SIM -that they just bought like a bag of kripik- suffices for ID purposes (that’s literally what they tell me).

Recently met a person who couldn’t open a bank account. Okay, so he reluctantly went to the civil registry. But there was a mistake in the address information of his leasehold contract. Now he has to go back to the notary to have that changed which is gonna cost him. Those things you really need to check and double check.

As an immigrant best is to do everything by the book.
And if the book changes every year, adapt to it.

... the process is first kitas after SKTT right?
Right .
why he had to apply for a SKTT in order to renew his Kitas?...
Usually to get/extend a KITAS or to get/extend a KITAP , Immigration asks for an address proof . In the past they named it as a 'Domicile Certificate' (or similar) , but recently it started to mention the SKTT too (although as I said before , Immigration probably accepts the lower Government Office's 'Surat Domisili' or similar) .
I suppose OP didn't get the SKTT before , so he tried to get it late .
... usually we only need to pay when the process is aprove already with all the documents, ..
This was the old way , now in the online system Immigration asks the payment as soon as we send the request .

... Also, if I remember correctly, the sponsor is generally expected to be in Indonesia when acting as a sponsor.
The sponsor is required to reside in Indonesia (see the Regulation below) .

In practice the sponsor is not an important figure . I had many in these more than 20 years , only twice Immigration asked me to bring the sponsor with me for questioning , and this happened in the old times .

------------------------

Article 4 of PerMen no.36 Year 2021 - free translation
(1) The guarantor/sponsor ... must be an Indonesian .
(2) The guarantor/sponsor ... must meet the following requirements:
a. be at least 21 (twenty-one) years of age or married;
b. have resided in Indonesia for at least the last 6 months;
.......

I should add "for many of KITAS holders" in what I said , because the ones : who work in Indonesia for more than 6 months (NIK becoming tax number) and who want to by a car or motorcycle in their own names , need the SKTT .
Recently met a person who couldn’t open a bank account. Okay, so he reluctantly went to the civil registry.
Did the rule change ? Because I always opened with the passport + KITAS , long time ago .

I think I have the SKTT as long as I have my first kitas many years ago, to me it is the same to do, just after to get the kitas or renew the kitas, one thing after the other, goes together, and on the olds days, when we did it at their office you could no renew a kitas without the SKTT.
Marcus I have just renew my Kitas keluarga one month ago, and if I am not wrong, at least in our case or my case, first they checked all the documents and only when all the documents are ok and good, they aprove the procces and you can do or are allow to do the payment, no before. How come he was allowed to pay without the whole documentation?

Another reason to use an agent let them run around dealing with all this stuff

Actually in an apartment the building management should do this

Or in the kampung the man who sleeps in the hut at night and closes the gate should do it

STM SKTT included in mine last time
She offered me free SIM A if I wanted anytime to just accompany her to Polisi for eye test only since I have UAE licence

Now the new system you pay at same time of submission. Online.

Then they email you automatically if it's successful or if they need something extra. Don't know if that's got every type of visa but certainly for the most common types evisa voa kitas etc. And everything stays on the system. So every time you log in it comes up ready filled in with passport details. But check them all sometimes it defaults to passport expiry being today date

It is not a surprise as the SKTT is also a proof of address . Or you mean that you provided both the SKTT + the "Surat Domosili" (or similar) . I also always had the SKTT too but never tried to present it because at the time I made the KITAS extension requests the SKTTs were almost a year old (and in my country , address proof's document cannot be older than 60 days) . My fault , I should have asked Immigration.

I did KITAS to KITAP online , less than 1 year ago and I am sure I also paid just after sending the request , like what the OP said here .

Some people have been here for decades and are still confused. It’s very simple though:

  • SKTT: Issued to temporary stay permit (KITAS) holders as proof of address.
  • Kartu Keluarga & KTP: Reserved for Indonesian citizens and permanent stay permit (KITAP) holders.

And those are all part of the Civil Registry, just like the very important NIK, which as such has nothing to do with Immigration. But that doesn’t make it less necessary or mandatory,

And many agents screw you and ‘forget’ to offer you this part of your administrative process. Luckily that’s better for people who work here and are sponsored by their company. But for private individuals an agent is completely unnecessary, except for retirement of course.

Everything is unnecessary but all relative. For me my time is better served sitting in a hotel drinking coffee than racing around Jakarta in the heat and traffic to save a few juta. Each to their own though.

Like i said have a good agent and get everything confirmed in advance whats included or not and use a reputable one and it's fine. I've never had a problem with her and neither have the 50+ people I've recommended who use her.

Yes sure some are dodgy AF but some people fly once a year and lose their luggage and others twice a month and still never.

Anyway everyone has their own way right

I see this differently . Most (if not all) agents prioritize profit , so if some do not offer a specific service it is more because they ignore or don't want to do that for personal reasons .

We foreigners cannot rely on what agents offer us or choose for us , or ... One of our responsibilities is to know the relevant Laws & Regulations of the host country to be sure what documents we really need , what we can/cannot do , and so on .
