Well, considering the majority of drunken idiots on weekends evenings in Kuta are Aussies, there was indeed no need.....You probably didn't have any racist intend, but there is no need to emphasize that the guy is Australian. It's not relevant to the story.

Unfortunately this type of event in kuta and legian areas is all too common , its very "low rent" with people to match , definitely an area to avoid in the evenings .
Ya, during the day there are some weird people walking about ,but after dark is when the whole area changes , a lot of drunks ,"dodgy people" of all races infect the area .I don't think you need the "in the evenings" qualifier.

I think there is far to much generalizing about Australians acting out in Bali bars. I know quite a few Australians and the majority get falling down drunk only at home.
When people make you feel like home does not always mean you are really home...Yeah, but most of them consider "home" is where they hang their hat! ?
....these kinds of OZ tourists really do give a bad image to the rest of Australians and not just among locals. My French friends in France also think that way.
