I see Natanyahu apologizing for the death of aid workers in Gaza and saying these things happen in war. The incident has been described as a terrible accident. I saw an earlier report that said a Hamas person had been seen at a building entered by the aid workers. The car used by the aid group was then hit with a deliberate strike. It seems the Israelis thought the Hamas official left with that aid group. The mistake or accident being that in fact the Hamas official had not left with the group. It seems probable that it was decided that "collateral damage" of killing the aid workers along with the Hamas official was justified as far as the Israeli military were concerned. Just as the death of more than 32,000 civilians and wounding of nearly 76,000 is apparently regarded as an acceptable level of "collateral damage".
This is madness enough but the notion that Hamas can be wiped out defies human experience. A lull perhaps if enough present Hamas leaders are killed but the residue of hate and desire for revenge would suggest it is just a matter of time before it escalates all over again
