Collateral damage?

I see Natanyahu apologizing for the death of aid workers in Gaza and saying these things happen in war. The incident has been described as a terrible accident. I saw an earlier report that said a Hamas person had been seen at a building entered by the aid workers. The car used by the aid group was then hit with a deliberate strike. It seems the Israelis thought the Hamas official left with that aid group. The mistake or accident being that in fact the Hamas official had not left with the group. It seems probable that it was decided that "collateral damage" of killing the aid workers along with the Hamas official was justified as far as the Israeli military were concerned. Just as the death of more than 32,000 civilians and wounding of nearly 76,000 is apparently regarded as an acceptable level of "collateral damage".

This is madness enough but the notion that Hamas can be wiped out defies human experience. A lull perhaps if enough present Hamas leaders are killed but the residue of hate and desire for revenge would suggest it is just a matter of time before it escalates all over again

Maybe it would have been better if all these Jewish people had stayed in Europe and other Western countries? It seems such a waste of innocent lives over politics and religion! Where is Peace on Earth, and love each other as your brother and sister? Turn the cheek? Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you?

Israel is in full genocide mode and no one is going to stop them. If any of these things had happend with the other side, the world would be outraged and calling for their heads.

You often come up with similar messages and I actually often agree with you. At least I often wish the world would be a better place and I believe in our own circles we can live what we preach and preach what we live. Just concerning the bigger picture, I think the world never was and never will be a place of peace for everybody. For some people I can just hope that something like karma exists or being rebirted into other circumstances, since many won't find justice in their lifetime. Enough of the big words though..I just think the world won't change much,we can just make the best out it. Try to help within our possibilities and don't be a-holes.

It's not collateral damage since the IDF hit exactly who they were targeting. Three times. It's murder, like we see from them again and again. No repercussions though for the IDF, they'll just hide behind Uncle Sam's skirts.

Well, in this latest incident collateral damage in as much as when the strike was ordered the target was a Hamas official, albeit they knew the car was carrying aid workers. ... Well, as Netanyahu put it, things happen in war.

Had the Russian done 1/10 th of this it would be on all TV worldwide, head of states would have called Netanyahu a war criminal, olligarques money would have been seized, sanctions imposed, Israel banks blocked etc....
But no, for the Jews we send them money and weapons to continue the massacre. When a proposal for a cease fire is proposed at the UN,, the US puts its veto.....
No wonder, no country in the world believes the West's rethoric anymore about democracy, human right, freedom of speech.....

i despize all western leaders, they are all puppets, no balls, only blablabla...
Shame on us !

Wonder if Macron will offer to send troops to help "save Israel" ....
What a bloody idiot !

Well, with hindsight it seems a bit a silly idea to go steal land in the Middle of your ennemies, surrounded by hardcore Muslim countries....

Ok, the Brits and the UN have a bit of responsability in it.

And please don't tell me "it was their land 3000 years ago" ....
Because with that argument very few countries can say their home is really their home since ever.
Starting with the US and Australia.....(hahah, yes it's an objective random choice....)

Netanyahu should be the targeted damage. Nothing collateral about it. Netanyahu is the one that is causing a bigger and much more bold Hamas. Even with his total genacide of Palestinians, Israel is going to have a greater, bloody price to pay.

Very good points you have made over this! It just seems to be human nature to keep on conquering others land and resources! Ask the native Americans and the Aborigines, what they think of the white invaders from Europe? Now in America, I see the ones supporting Trump saying that America is their land, and the borders should be closed to all others!
How did Netanyahu regain control again? It is so sad to see how the powers that be in America, England, etc, keep supporting this madness. Have you noticed in the news they call the military fighters from Israel the good guys, and the fighters from Palestine militants?

It is all such a waste of time and energy! I say a good idea is to give them all equal amounts of money and resources to live, since they have to live together on a small piece of land. Stop the military support for Israel! Promote food, education, and prosperity for all the people there!

Egypt, Greece, Iran, India, China, Japan, Ethiopia, and so on.

Netanyahu has since years accepted that Qatar or Saudi financed Hamas as the existence of Hamas was a counterweight to the official PLO.

I think you may want to revise your geography and history lessons....
The Persian Empire goes back to 830 B.C.
Ancient Egypt 3100 B.C.
I suggest you check on Greece and China as well...

The muslim majority countries in the region all have culpability too - they forced their jews to go to Israel around 1950. It seems like everyone conspired against the Palestinians - western and muslim countries

On a side note, something I see here a lot, even somewhat on this forum, is the equation of the state Israel and the Jewish people. It gets very bad in cities as Antwerp and Amsterdam, where citizens (have) become targets.

It is also rather awkward that the everlasting Shia and Sunni opposition is suddenly not so significant anymore; (financial) support of Hamas by Iran and Turkey?

These are the countries/civilisations that can clam cca 3000 yrs continuity or more, Israelis among them too, contrary to French, English, Germans and other barbarian hordes, not to mention Australia/US.

I think you need to go back a bit to your history books....

For the Israelites it is much more complicated.....

Yes there's definitely a distinction to be made between the two terms. Furthermore, even a lot of Israelis don't agree with Likud's policies.
