AirAsia passenger attempts to open door mid flight.

I'd support a life ban of any individual who in any way behaves in a manner that causes disruption or concern on a flight let alone murderous assault or sexual harassment. Having been witness to alcohol fueled arguments and general drunkenness I'd also be in favor of banning alcohol from flights. Although I admit, the Perth-Denpasar route is perhaps a little more prone to liquor abuse than others and probably not a good basis for comparison.

AirAsia have recently been getting a lot of bad press here in Australia with engine trouble, bird strikes and turnarounds which has me expecting some cheap fares advertised soon.

An Indian man has tried to open an emergency exit door on a packed AirAsia flight in midair, injuring fellow passengers and crew members who rushed to restrain him as the plane prepared to land.

The civil aviation ministry proposed banning passengers based on three categories of unruly behaviour -- ranging from lewd comments and sexual harassment to damaging aircraft and murderous assault.

Why would they insure themselves just for some idiot to try to open the emergency window; guaranteed it won't work. Let the moron yank on the door all he wants while watching him bemused from a distance, he'll give up eventually, and law enforcement will be waiting when the plane arrives.

In normal flight it's impossible to open an emergency door but this incident was minutes from landing. Pressurisation prevents opening any door but there may not be any pressure-differential just prior to landing....and, on touchdown, any residual cabin pressure is automatically dumped.

This just in....

An Australian man has been carried off a Qantas flight from Bangkok to Sydney after allegedly drunkenly arguing with a crew member.

The man was handcuffed and carried back into the terminal by six security guards holding his arms and legs.

A witness told 9NEWS the man appeared to be intoxicated.


The witness said passengers on QF24 were forced to disembark before the man was carried off.

They were forced to wait three hours before returning to their seats.

Footage of the incident shows other people in the terminal cheering and applauding as the man is carried past.

Missed the minutes before landing part, would still be very difficult to do but perhaps not entirely impossible.
