5 days Mandatory Quarantine for Indonesian and Foreigners Enquiry

Hi,

I just read that 5-days mandatory quarantine for Indonesian and foreigners upon arrival. I will be traveling back to the states and return in a month and wondering any Indonesians or foreigners had experienced and what to expect during the 5-days quarantine at our booked hotel from the hotel list from Indonesian Immigration.

Recommend you prebook and arrange rather than just turning up at the airport and picking one. Also prebook the hotel pickup

Thanks for your reply snpark. Will the Indonesians/expats/visa holders be personally "escorted" during the airport transferred to the hotel we have selected? I read when arrival to Indonesia, all travelers requires to take the RT-PCR, clear Immigration or visa-versa and bus transfer to travelers selected hotel for the 5-days quarantine?

Basically, I want to know the process of the quarantine and how strict it would be.

It is very strict and yes depending on the hotel you are escorted from airside through immigration and the initial checks and tests and taken in special vehicle directly to the room / hotel with no outside contact, with all your luggage etc.
So yes, all escorted throughout and quarantine is strict, no visitors but you can have food delivered and hotel will bring it to your room

Thanks for the information, snpark. I was thinking buying perishable (frozen meat) from the states and hopefully can give to my wife when I arrived in Indonesia. I guess that is out of the question according to your reply.

One more question... can the quarantine travelers book in advance online such as booking.com, agoda, etc., instead of booking directly to the quarantine hotel instead of paying rack rate to save money?

I do not think the booking agent websites list quarantine packages, but I could be mistaken. Everything I have seen refers to either using an agent or booking directly with the hotel.
For what it is worth, my wife's cousin said that she was allowed to walk around the hotel outside her room and go to the pool area, but was not allowed to swim or go inside to any of the restaurants.

I will ask when I get home this evening. One thing to note: after the debacle with the Indian folks flaunting quarantine regulations, the government may clamp down on quarantine hotels. I am in a WhatsApp group where people were sharing all sorts of pictures from an apartment complex that was advertising the levels of freedom that it gave foreign quarantine customers, so it may ruin things for the rest of us. :-(

FYI. I just contacted Ibis Hotel and they said:

Ibis Styles and Mercure Jakarta Simatupang are no longer participating in International Arrival Quarantine.

With the above information, I am very disappointed because I live in Cilandak and less than 10 minutes drive from my house.

No one likes quarantine measures, mate - but they are important. Global pandemic and all that, y'know?

Outside deliveries to rooms won't be possible anymore, government instructed all hotels to not allow this to minimize risk from infection from outside.

Most probably the 5 days will be extended to 14 days quarantine soonish.

List of approved quarantine hotels has just been reduced to 25 hotels. Many hotels were removed for allowing guests to leave the rooms, use facilities etc after the Oakwood PIK disaster from last week.

Any source for this? The EU is treating vaccinated travelers differently from non-vaccinated ones; I am holding out hope for Indonesia to make this designation as well.

Just received updated list of hotels for 5-day quarantine. It appears that many 3 stars hotel in south Jakarta are off the list.

Any update on how you get from the airport to the hotel? You can go by taxi or it has to be in a covid-infested bus?
