4/11, 25/11 and 2/12 anti-Ahok demonstrations

If I got to believe those interviews, the protesters get better perks than the union strikers in Europe: 250K, cake, water and lunchbox.

"And who would they vote for in the election?" asked the journalist. "Ahok" was the answer. And left a confused TV reporter.

I saw that interview.....it was hilarious and has gone viral...according to my wife.

Although this was a peaceful demo there must have been some deaths...because Bakso hawkers made a killing...

I can see the news tomorrow...Ahok, Governor on leave of absence, criticized for not cleaning up the street mess.

I really think half the people there think they are there to support Ahok ,

Situation has calmed down a bit.

Earlier, a group of demonstrators showed up at Ahok's residential complex. There was a small altercation with rocks thrown but they dispersed after 20mn.

Can someone post a link?
I believe it was on Metro TV but not sure as I kept swopping between Metro and TVone...which has too much advertising.
I'm sure you'll find comment on facebook as that's where my wife gets all her information.....to my disdain...:nono:

on metro now its kicked off at the palace , looks like the hardcore came for a fight .

There is a lot of fire. Teargas being fired, water cannons being used ineffectively. Water cannons are too far away and it's more like being rained on. Kalla ordered no shots fired. Good Muslims at work.

This a great chance for Jokowi to declare 'war' on muslim extremists. Blame it on foreign (isis) influence and crack down on the domestic extremists/nutcases.

Shame its not live rounds like in 98
That happened in the Tanjung Priok massacre of 1984 -- when the military came in and shot hundreds of Muslim protestors. Suharto's way of keeping a lid on political Islam. Can't see it happening today. Just as well. Jokowi needs to frame the issue for the nation: "Ahok is a good governor, anti-corruption, so he has many enemies in powerful places, so they are using blasphemy as a pretext to throw him out. What do we want in Indonesia? Corrupt leaders or good leaders? Tolerance or violent intolerance?"

You mean the guy they accused of being allied or secretly Christian Chinese. I wouldn't blame him or disagree, but it might be fuel for the fire.

They are getting close to Ahok's house. Warning shot was fired. Charge by cops on bikes.
