4/11, 25/11 and 2/12 anti-Ahok demonstrations

What I don't get; they can put those guys in a hole for at least 20 days. If they would have done that the moment they were aware of the 313 plans, they could have had it canceled it all together. Also, they took quite a risk in arresting them so last minute; they probably counted on fear and demoralization but it could easily have ended in rioting and resistance.

Well last minute they don't have time to plan, retribution. I think the cops were a bit off on their timing esp. if they were trying to time it with the excellent Kempinski breakfast buffet.

The story going around is that Anies and Sandiaga visited a mental home to drum up support. They were invited into a room where all the patients showed three fingers and excitedly yelled "tiga, tiga!"

Anies and Co. were delighted and left all smiling until they met a smaller group who put up two fingers and called "dua, dua"...Anies asked..."who are those people?' and was told they were waiting to be released......'coz they were cured. ...

Before the official and final debate between the governor candidates on the 12th, there are some being organized by TV stations. Anies did not show up last minute for the one on Kompas TV, so it became the big Ahok/Djarot di Rosi show.

These anti Ahok protest seem to be doing the opposite of what people had seen them doing. Ahok seems to be getting stronger and the protest smaller. Perhaps people are tiring of all the overblown gatherings and starting to look at the real reasons for mass protest.

What will be interesting is the day after the election. When Ahok wins, will the radicals be out enforce? What about election day? Will the radical organizations try to disrupt the voting in some areas? Will Jakarta be a safe place to be on either of those two days?

We watched that and it became quite a fun show and comedy act but Ahok cannot dance...he looks so clumsy.

True. His wife is cute though. And a great cello player.

And ...according to Ahok explaining to Rosi how he does yoga...she gives a great massage...but only for him, he emphasized!!!...:nono:

Am I correct they have postponed the results of the trial till after the election, does this mean if he wins he is not guilty if he losses he is guilty

If you speak Indonesian(Bahasa Indonesia) and followed "Kurawa" twitter recently, he stated lots of flaw in the charges...

Those who reports, each has differences of timeframe of when "The blasphemy" occurred.
Some say 5th of October, other 3rd September, and so on..
How they know Ahok did the crime were also different: one said from Whatsapp chat, other said from his Youtube, other said Someone reported him but all of them are different once you look at the detail of it. For Example the usage of the word "Dibohongi DENGAN ( Fooled By)" , one said they heard Ahok said it, other said, he heard his friends said it, others said, someone told him Ahok said it...

Imagine if you are the Jaksa/prosecutors, and have to press charges based on that reports

HAHHAHAHAHAH

Sounds like Hearsay evidence, not excepted in an English court, but being indonesia I suppose it depends on how much the judges get, this whole case seems a waste of time and money and makes indonesia look stupid

dude, the whole thing IS stupid.....

those fuckers cut an hour long video to 36 seconds then edit the phrase in between and use them as propaganda to discredit Ahok

Many bought this stupidity.....

prosecutors are under pressure by these fpi gangsters, if they charge Ahok lightly, then bigger mob riot could explode. The gangsters went further to ask HTI and ISIS to join them. But in the name of Human Rights, gov't can't launch pre emptive strike anymore, unless the gangsters commit criminal act first.....

if there's a horizontal civilian clash versus these ISIS supporter, you might see me in front page of random local newspaper kicking their camel asses LOL

So what do you guys think will be the final outcome of this trial?

You know Daniel I couldn't even guess, trumped up charges, so many people in the wings waiting to riot, basically a total screw up

Hearsay is allowed in Indonesian courts. Prosecutors and the courts look at all evidence and if it seems likely to be true, they will prosecute and convict. Add in all the Expert witnesses that just say they think it could have happened that way with no actual evidence of proof, that is taken as a credible witness.

In recent surveys Anies gets almost 48% of the votes and Ahok would get 47%. So that is very close.

What was interesting in the survey, is that 1/3 of Anies voters state that 'religion' would be the reason they would vote for him. So this whole process and the demonstrations definitely have pulled many people to the other camp.

Anyway, if you put your TV on a local station right now, the chances are you will see the final gubernatorial debate. Which takes place any moment at Lippo Mall in South Jakarta.

It will be interesting.

Best way to watch the debate online is via Kompas TV live youtube stream:

Not sure if this the right thread as we have another two similar, but sadly Ahok has been given one year in prison, I cannot believe such a good man is being imprisoned

No, the prosecutor wants him in prison for 1 year if Ahok is found guilty of the charges.
