Yes but the PKI\communism seems to get brought up as a current enemy. Like Rizieq Habib when he delivered a sermon to some of the Suharto clan, Prabowo, Anies and many others at a mosque as reported by an English newspaper. He also said Muslims were ready to fight against this. So whether he is speaking to past atrocities with no resolution or is alluding to the rise in power to fight against all threats real, perceived or created I don't know. But somehow Muslims will need to feel threatened and to be engaged in this fight. And maybe he was speaking more to his belief in the rise of the FPI power/status, I don't know.
There is a lot of narrative that can be carried through mosques with a sympathy towards or belief in a more fundamentalist approach. Maybe this election will represent a greater turning towards pluralism or fundamentalism. Maybe based on the shift in Indonesia society they are betting on the latter.
