Air Asia?

We are looking at a direct flight Denpasar Bangkok on 1st of April. There is a flight arrives Bangkok mid afternoon whereas Thai Air's flight for the same day arrives late night. There is a substantial difference in price so one doesn't expect too much from Air Asia but it is a short flight.

I looked at some Air Asia reviews which varied but wonder if any forum members have tried them recently?

We took them approx. a year ago to Bangkok. No problem, good flight.

I'm an AirAsia fanboy and have been for years. They changed the scope of air travel for many of us from Australia traveling to Asia by bringing real competition to our airways. I understand awards don't count for much, but having said that, a company doesn't enjoy the being the world's best low cost carrier ten years in a row by accident.

Better that the rest of the low cost carriers, but the bar is not all that high.

Personally I don't mind Air Asia but i always pay up front for all the extras like seat selection, boarding priority, luggage etc.. One thing to note though is that they arrive at a different (the old one) airport in Bangkok. No real difference in time to get into the city but if you are heading South (Hua Hin, Pattaya etc) it can add 1-2 hours to your journey depending on timing and traffic.

Well, hopefully (and probably) you will not be sitting next to an Australian family with toddlers who complain about everything, don't like to pay for the extras, expect premium service and vegetarian food, fast service and who are too stingy to take a tablet with preloaded movies for their kids. Of course them screaming and kicking the chairs in front of them all the time, is considered normal. Oh well, it's only 4,5 hours.

I forget how much I paid for a taxi booked at the Suvarnabhumi airport to central Bangkok by Sungai Chao Phraya. Can you also book at the Don Muang airport and can you recall roughly the cost? Thanks.

Unless the flight is going to be totally full, I never buy seats, or pay for luggage more than a week or two in advance.

If your plans change, you’re only out the airfare, and not all the fees which can be as much as some tickets.

Yes you can, but the (official) taxi queue is very easy (and they use meters). Last time I took the public bus but had to switch to the subway halfway. Not ideal. UBER/GRAB works well so that was a no brainer returning to Don Muang. I recall a price of 350 baht.
