Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior in Jakarta!

I'm pretty sure I have my terms mixed between "ship" and "boat", please don't be mad ;)

Yep -He'd be SHIPPING himself when he saw the cops.
However, if I saw him in the street I wouldn't call the cops because he's right.

If I saw him (Watson) on the street I'd call Pete Bethune......

Did anyone visit? I was thinking of it but did not in the end....

I was in Bali, so couldn't make it otherwise I would have.

Seems we need to send our secret service demolition team again ?
Ok, joking.....

I hear no French person is allowed to view the Rainbow Warrior...ever again!
French agents posing as interested supporters or tourists toured the ship while it was open to public viewing..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinking_of_the_Rainbow_Warrior

I had no idea. This happened when I was 2 years old so by the time I was old enough to understand nobody was talking about it anymore.

That Wikipedia article was a fascinating read.

In my young Navy days, we used to play a bit cat and mouse with them and similar people when doing the nuclear tests in French Polynesia....
But there was no CNN or social media in the 70's so it was all done "discreetly"....
Trying to stop a 160m destroyer with a dingy has never really worked....But we always fished them out of the water...
Sadly the dingies were usually "lost" and we had no way to bring the guys back ashore before a certain time...Oh, and their radios ran out of batteries and 6mm camera were soaked in seawater....
Too bad !

Probably not necessary when capt. Cook docked in Batavia he lost a few to malaria and...

Didn't lose any sailing around the world! Just docked in Batavia

You do know Paul Watson has not had anything to do with Greenpeace in over 30 years so I don' know why people keep bringing his name up when Greenpeace is mentioned

Watson was a founder member on the original Board of Directors of Greenpeace and therefore a significant person in regard to its history.

Microsoft was co-founded by Paul Allen and Bill Gates. Allen left in 1983 and Gates in 2000 yet their names are still etched into the Microsoft name brand.

Steve Jobs has been dead for about 7 years but his name is associated with Apple almost every time that subject comes up......

same principle!

It seems that churches and non government organizations are the most destructive of their members. People drawn by causes are usually quite passionate and it is common for them to see their way as the only way and others not sharing their view as tantamount to heretics. Disagreements become poisonous feuds often tearing groups apart and hatreds linger. On balance it seems that Greenpeace has made a major contribution relating to environmental issues. I am not surprised to find saints and sinners in the ranks.

Not the same at all sorry. Steve Jobs was a part of apple when he died. No one when they hear mircosoft thinks Paul Allen , they think Bill Gates. You comparisons is like saying Jews and coming up with Jesus's name.
I guess when ever the university, USC comes up I should mention O J Simpson.

You can believe whatever you want.
When this thread was posted the only Greenpeace personnel that came to my mind was Paul Watson. I know of no others.
When I think of Apple I think of Steve Jobs. The same with Paul Allen/Bill Gates/Steve Ballmer and Microsoft.

Anything else about Greenpeace I'd need to look-up.....as with Apple and Microsoft.

yes, that was a nasty terrorist murder c- and the guilty state released the killers as soon as they could.
A disgusting incident.
A bit harsh and not appropriate on here, but if it makes you feel better.....
Facts are contradicting you, if you take the time to read what happened. Things were done to avoid any loss of live, but seems somebody tried to be brave.....
