Anyone else notice that a lot more sites are recognizing a VPN? Getting more and more sites rejecting my inquiries while it' on.Is this the beginning of the end ? Or is it just my network. I' finding I have to turn off my vpn a lot more.

You need a VPN provider that has many servers, and changes the IP addresses often enough. Many VPNS are used to spam or worse, so sooner or later their IP address gets on a black list.

What are you using a vpn for? HBO, BBC, Netflix or similar?

Unfortunately the ones with the most servers are generally the ones with the most users. If a VPN has 1000 IP addresses and 10 million users, the result is about the same as a VPN with 100 IP addresses and 1 million users.

An obscure or expensive VPN that spammers are less likely to use is the best choice. If it's on many "10 best VPNs" lists and is under 100USD per year, it's more likely to have blocks applied.

If you know someone in the country of the IP you want who has a great internet connection and a high-end router, you can have them setup a VPN server on their router and you can connect to that and have their home IP.

Finally, something to contribute :D Actually a lot of sites have started cracking down on VPNs; Sites like Netflix, Hulu, Slick deals and many streaming websites. Usually, these sites ban the entire IP pools. So I've tried some new VPNs in the market, the lesser known ones, and found them to be working. Currently using (redacted), pretty cheap and does the work.

ExpressVPN guarantees Netflix access. It's a bit pricier than others but it's the best one I've tried by miles.

Not ALL servers work for Netflix, but they make sure at least one server in US/UK/NL and AU is able to access it. You'll need to try a few or contact the customer service to find out which ones are the currently "active" ones.

I want to download some guitar lessons from a website which is blocked by the Indonesian system. Can you please recommend a pretty cheap VPN. I don't need Netflix

I installed s VPN yesterday and then found this morning I was unable to connect to wifi. Tried the usual rebooting of modem and computer. There was some reference to a Kill Switch and wifi would not reconnect until that was dealt with. The only way I could reconnect was to uninstall the VPN. I remember having problems with a previous VPN. Anyone else had these problems?

While waiting for a response from the VPN supplier I have been looking on line about the nature of VPNs. It seems they do tend to slow down your internet activity and given that our Indovision system is often very slow anyway I have the impression then that this may be the problem as often attempts to log on to different sites are met with "unable to connect due to slow response" and with a VPN slowing down things even more it isn't looking good.

Generally, any additional connections are going to slow things down. I found that closer connections (SIN/KUL etc) were much faster. If you’re connecting to Europe or US, it’s slower.

Maybe you are using a free VPN. Most of the free VPNs give this spam service but you can try the ExpressVPN. Yes, it is paid.

I’ve been using VPNUnlimited for 18 months. I bought it on a Cyber Monday sale for $30-40 for a lifetime membership.

I’m always pretty doubtful about lifetime memberships with software, but surprisingly the service has been good. They’ve also added special servers for BBC, Hulu, Netflix. The Netflix one hasn’t worked the few times I tried it, but the local Indonesia Netflix doesn’t bother me much. Hulu works perfectly.

In the past I’ve used PIA, which was ok, and CyberGhost which was meh.

My local internet connection has also gotten a lot faster than last year. 30mbps.
