An Australian woman catches a female Balinese thief taking her money and lets her keep some of it. I'm not sure if I'd have been so generous.

Someone should be carefully talking when it comes to SARA issue
Care to elaborate because I have no clue what you are talking about... am I alone?
Here's the thing that irks me about Indonesia. The subject of ethnicity, religion, and race (known by the Indonesian acronym SARA) is taboo, and supposedly not to be discussed EVER. The problem is that finding a solution --or at least a better understanding-- is not possible without a frank and uncomfortable discussion.SARA issues, anything that touches on ethnicity, religion, minorities etc.
I think it was in response to the Javanese vs Balinese statement.
I'm not talking about SARA in general of Indonesia Raya, or referring to taboo and never to talk about about.
I'm talking specifically about this thread, when someone is making (I assume) a joke which referring to an unfavourable behaviour towards a certain ethnic.
I agree we should be able to discuss about it when problem occurs, but here's to understand that this is Indonesia when words can actually kill a human. It is a sensitive issue.
Correct me if I'm wrong but maybe there is a misunderstanding.
I understood Macvert's comment as sarcasm in the sense that he was making fun of the widespread belief that the only crimes committed in Bali are from Javanese and not Balinese.
I don't believe that Macvert shares the same views.
