Not sure if this the right thread as we have another two similar, but sadly Ahok has been given one year in prison, I cannot believe such a good man is being imprisoned

It is the prosecution demand: a two years probation and, if he offends again during his probation period, a one year jail sentence (pidana 1 tahun penjara dengan masa percobaan dua tahun).

In short, prosecutors do not request an incarceration. Judges may or may not follow prosecutors demands. They may consider that an acquittal is appropriate.... as well as they may consider that 4 years in jail - the maximum authorized by KUHP 156 - or 5 years in jail - the maximum authorized by KUHP 156a - is appropriate.

KUHP 156 and KUHP 156a are the two articles Ahok has been charged with in the indictment bill of the prosecutors.

If they find Ahok not guilty I doubt you will need to wait until the 12 for the radical criminal element to hit the streets. Unfortunately, the judges know this too.

A lot can depend on where you are relocating to in Indonesia. Not everywhere is radical cesspools like Jakarta.

Not necessarily. Some rural areas are not Muslim dominated. They are away from the Government seats where the radicals want to influence and they are away from the main stream media where the radicals want to see their names. They are also away from the financiers of their efforts to disrupt.
