Farmed Salmon (derail from Today's Menu thread).

Hopefully, what you are buying is even Real Salmon, and not some other species of fish with food coloring added. Sadly almost all the Wild Salmon, and other species of fish are fished out! Thus the need for Mass production of food by Mega Farms, I don't understand how it is allowed for so much imitation food being offered as Real food! Just read the label on most of the food offered on the market now. The label says in Bright Deceiving Colors, it's Mango drink! And when read the ingredients, there is less than 10% real mango in the bottle, all the rest, Sugar,Water, Additives! There are even products, that don't have any of the product advertised, actually in the package. Chicken,Beef broth for example! This is only 1 example of how we are being deceived by the Corporate Food industry! How is this allowed to be happening? Where is our Governments showing concern for the Citizens?
I believe all of this Imitation food being served to the People, is a Major cause of our Many Illnesses! 🤷🏼‍♂️🙀😵‍💫

I'd be more worried about fruit and vegetables than farmed fish . 99% of crop growers in Indonesia use 'ROUNDUP' liberally on there land without a thought or care of the long term effects . Glyphosphate will kill you before farmed fish . Indonesia and other parts of S/East Asia are the dumping ground for all the pesticides , herbicides etc etc that are banned in most other countries .

That's because the Farmer's have never been educated about the harmful effects of exposure to this stuff! Is this what I see the Farmer's spraying on the rice fields without protective clothing?
Monsanto is an Evil corporation! Isn't Roundup illegal in Europe? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤪😵‍💫

I clean most food before eating.
Not sure it is very effective....

Not to mention withholding periods.
I've seen them cultivating and planting within 2 weeks . As soon as the weeds die . I had mandarin orchards , found empty bottles everywhere in the irrigation channels. And they wonder why they have to replace the trees frequently . 6-8 years is the life expectancy of a fruit tree here . 30-40-50 years in Australia .

Exactly , lack of education . They use it everywhere . Roundup is illegal in most countries to my knowledge but widely available in Indonesia . Billion dollar law suits still playing out in America over the use and health problems it has caused to thousands .

What do you mean by withholding periods?
The instructions say not to plant before a specific period after spraying , 6-8 weeks if I recall . Not that it makes a difference , the residual stays in the soil indefinitely and is absorbed by anything that is planted in it for years after . And the crop growers here might spray several times a year depending on what crops there growing and the amount of weeds . I had mandarin orchards and sore it regularly , spraying around trees to stop weeds , spraying after crop harvests , corn , rice etc to stop weed growth .

Sounds absolutely, horrendously Toxic! Just think of what is in those Mandarin oranges? YUCK! Why not hire some Indonesian workers to come in and cut the grass, and pull the weeds? 🤮🙀😢😪🍊🧨

Withholding periods for herbicides, fungicides, insecticides. Spray today, harvest tomorrow.
It's no wonder we are dropping like Flies, from Cancer, Alzheimers, MS, Parkinson's, Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension, ETC! What a Sad World we have turned the Beautiful Garden of Eden Into!
If there is a God, or Higher being, or Creator, I'm sure He/She is holding their head, in their hands and Crying buckets of Tears! 🙀😢😪🫵🍊🤮

Thanks for ruining my trips to SaladStop
Can I order the Roundup topping on the side next time?
But, but,... they say their lettuce is organic! :ROFLMAO:

So we are mostly eating Chilean salmon, according to the numbers.

But still no way of knowing if the salmon you are buying here is farmed. It doesn't help when local governments, like the Tasmanian government, tells the salmon farmers they do not need to include the words "farmed salmon" on their packaged products.
Most definitely farmed. Wild salmon is much more expensive. Maybe in certain restaurants, and I'm sure they'll go out of the way to say it's wild on the menu, right next to the price sticker.

I like the taste of Salmon now. Before tuna, and Mahi Mahi. I miss the delicious tender cuts of steak from America. Pork there is much cheaper than in this country. The chicken there and here is pumped with growth hormones.
Correction, chicken in the US is not allowed to have hormones, but does have antibiotics. Don't know about here.... but I do find chicken being more tasty here than in the US.

Well the chickens there, they might not be pumped full of hormones, But, There is a meat variety now, they have developed in the laboratory, that grows so fast. They can't walk on they own legs after Six months or so!
Explain How they do that? 🤪🤷🏼‍♂️🙀🐣🐔🐓
Probably the reason the chicken you ate in America was so tasteless is because it was factory farmed! Those poor birds, are crammed in large buildings, by the thousands, never to see daylight, no exercise, and pumped with antibiotics, like you said. Just like the Kampong chickens here, Chickens in the States, or anywhere, raised on a small farm, allowed to run around, eat bugs, live outdoors, are much happier, and Tastier! 👍

Only ever used organic pesticides , herbicides , fertilizers on my orchards , I allowed several goat /sheep keepers to access the land and cut the grass for there livestock .

Kampong chickens like chewing on an old boot . Allowed to free range the streets feeding on all the rubbish that lies everywhere . And they only eat the males , the toughest of the lot .

True that! I'm sure if they cared, and fed these Kampong chickens, some cracked corn, and their table scraps, they would fatten up some. It's also the variety here. They are descendants of the wild jungle fowl! At least they aren't full of antibiotics! The rubbish they peck through is all the different fruits and vegetable scraps everyone tosses, and the occasional bug. They don't eat plastic! I notice people here don't like change, and stick to pretty much what everyone else does. I tried to introduce some new varieties of chilies to my Bali friend, and he just stuck the baby plant straight into the hard Bali soil, and complained it only got a foot high. I asked him if he tilled the soil, and added some manure, and he said no tilling and added just a little chicken manure on top of the soil around the plant. He said he was just going to grow the one variety everyone else grows! Oh well, so much for new ideas! This is even after, we went to the local manure/ soil factory and I bought 20 bags of soil mix. I use pots also due to the creepy crawlies that eat the roots when you plant directly in the soil! I like being a backyard gardener.
If he really cared, he could have done the same, but this is due to the mentality here. Everyone has a place. Some are farmers, others, shop keepers, some drivers, and they don't seem to cross the line. It is so engrained in everyone, to go to the morning market to buy food, they don't understand or care to save money, and grow their own, even if they have the space! This is OK, It's just the way it is! 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🙀🤪🐓🌶️
