Watching the USD / IDR exchange rate, I feel confident that the big money has spoken. Regardless of the results, Indonesia will avoid mass demos / chaos.

Now I believe the late Gus Dur had psychic ability, he predicted Prabowo will become president at an old age.

With all the bending of rules and questionable rulings from the supreme court, this presidential election seems to have been decided before the first ballots were dropped in the box. No wonder Prabowo proudly stated before the election day that he would win handedly in the first round.

The World Bank provides loans, credits, guarantees and technical assistance to developing countries and countries in transition. The aim is to combat poverty and distribute prosperity. With Prabowo as president, I doubt Indonesia can lend money now easy on the money market. Maybe Indonesia can turn to China or Russia? Investors will also stay away, I guess.

We will see the effects of Pranowo being president on the "Rupiah's strength" and Indonesia's economy in the next 1 or 2 years.

Indonesia has sound macro-parameters and monetary policy. Doubt any Indonesian president would have problem to borrow money from any international financial institution. Prabowo is pretty close to the US.

Sure ... but Indonesia has specific dynamics and characteristics that can frustrate investment and undermine investment and business climate ... the actions of a president can have a positive or negative effect on those dynamics / characteristics.

With Prabowo would be "business as usual" I suppose, with few additional points-continuation of spending for the new capital, draining the state money, and continution of downstreaming-which is making trade conflicts with the rest of the world, with doubtful results. Continuation of authoritarian state, started under Jokowi, woud be probably consolidated and further continued.

I think this is basically what most people want. Also, it keeps the extremist religious people in a box with a padlock on it. Can you imagine the FPI (or successor group) trying to take on Prabowo in the way that they did with Jokowi. Jokowi eventually solved the religion problem in a clever political way. Prabowo would be a lot more direct, I imagine, he wouldn't mess around.

I'm also hoping Prabowo might finally solve the mosque loudspeaker problem, which no other politician has had the strength to do. He has a Christian mother and was brought up for many years in the West, so he probably finds them annoying as the rest of us do.

I wonder what Jokowi has done to ensure that Prabowo doesn't break with him after a year or two. After all the VP position is meaningless, and if Prabowo wants to drop the Jokowi family as a political ally and go in a different direction, what is to stop him? Jokowi has given him the ultimate gift of votes he could never have got otherwise, but what does he get in return?

Was there more than the ruling about age eligibility?
The president showcasing Prabowo during various ceremonies when Probowo didn't need to attend. Using Jokowi's image in campaign advertising, all Gibran's advertising was with his father, a couple of military units proclaiming they back Prabowo while this is against campaign rules. No military or police are allowed to vote so why proclaim backing of someone unless to try and influence others?

I think after only a short time the Prabowo of old will start leaking out. A total 180 change as he claims in only 5 years is doubtful. Megawati seen it but those around Jokowi pushing for more Jokowi steered him away from PDIP by pushing for party leadership. As long as Megawati can address their members, there will be no change. If it comes to Puan taking over, a fight will ensure.

I feel the first thing you will see from the old Prabowo is giving more power to the military. Jokowi built ties with the US concerning the military and Probowo was along for the ride. Jokowi made ties with China for economic investments and I see Prabowo continuing those because china will wine and dine him while sweet talking him into a lot of things. Russia could play a roll too. Probowo came up in life seeking power and now he will have the most powerful position in Indonesia.

Jokowi is going to be disappointed I'm afraid. So will the little submissive puppet Gibran who has no experience at this level of Government. Jokowi's other son with no experience takes over the PSI party to add to the Jokowi Dynasty. Next comes Jokowi's son in law, the Mayor of Medan being encouraged to run for Governor of North Sumatra.

At least the government will be saving money since there will be no First Lady unless Prabowo decides to take his horse on those international visits.

Next president takes over in October. I guess we wait and see.

Did he predict that Prabowo would barely be able to walk to the podium for the inauguration?

Perhaps he needs a better pair of shoes.👞
