It flies around at dusk and dawn screeching loudly as if to anounce its teretory. Very loud , very shrill cry.

Might be one (or more) of these - white-throated kingfisher or close relative:

We have a pair down the bottom of our plot. They dive for mujair (feral tilapia) in one (or more) of our ponds.

They're particularly noisy when looking for a bonking partner (or announcing their territory).

They're a bit quiet at the moment - guess the missus has him on a short leash.

Not sure where the water is near me I'll keep an eye out tomorrow

Well sorry for glass half full idea. No just a question about wildlife. Mosque is mosque one has to get used to it.

I have figured out they are nocturnal birds as they were flying around at 10:45pm. So when i heard them/it in the morning they were going off shift!

We are very lucky to see kingfisher around our house and I feel blessed to see them because they are one of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen, like the one on the photo but with a bright red beak, what I was surprise it was the first time I heard their sound! How such a beautiful bird has that “ugly” sound?
It remind me to one of my favourites flowers, lotus, which is so beautiful but has not smell.
I probably always thought that all the sounds of the birds were beautiful and all the flowers has smells.

By the way, when I see the kingfisher I always thanks God, the universe or whatever, to present me with the view of such a beautiful creature, although usually longs only seconds and fly away very quick, once I was so lucky to get the binoculars on time and spend a few minutes behind the window, spying the kingfisher on the coconut tree and enjoining its colours. Small pleasures!

The savanna nightjar is nocturnal. Its song is a squeaky kweek kweek.

That will do :)
Yes, that must be the bird that flies around here at night also. Never thought about other nocturnal birds besides owls, so I always assumed they were bats (too dark to see them properly).
