Where are you from? - Lets see where are most of our forum members coming.

Welcome to the forum, D. We've bought the domain name expatindo.org on July 12th if I am not wrong and it took only two days to Master Dafluff and Master El_Goretto to set it as a viable platform for the community, without bugs and inefficient admins. On July 14th, the Bastille Day, we opened it for our expats and Indonesian friends.

Thanks for the welcome, O.
I must say this forum is easy to navigate.
Bastille day....Huh!
That's when Jean Valjean 'cosseted' Cosette from her prostitute mother Fantine...see I do know my French history as I have the CD set of Les Miserables and seen the show twice.
The best musical ever and brings me to tears and want to :lalala:....

Aussie Aussie Aussie ..., I once thought we were the BBQ kings of the world .., because we could turn snags on the Barbie and hand the dirty plates over to the missus (who also made all the salads)

but .., ie; until the Texans showed me we had no idea what we were doing LOL ...,

I heard about the famous Aussie barbie.
Seems this English guy was in a pub when a drongo at the bar said "g'day mate" The English guy replied "good evening." Aussie guy responded "Yiz be a pom right mate....so like to invite yiz to a barbie. "What's a barbie? " the English toff asked. The Aussie rolls his eyes and replies "A barbie is when we light a fire in a bucket and throw on a couple o' steaks, drink some coldies, into the scrub and cop a root or a gobby, dunk some more coldies and eat the steaks...are you in?"
English guy excitedly said "Absolutely...when....and who's all going to be there?'
The Aussie shook his corked hat to get the flies off his nose and said "Saturday...but it's just you and me mate."

I note the OP is from Macedonia and news is Skopje got hammered by a storm and many died...hope the OP doesn't have any family involved.

Sounds like a great garden, Wisnu! I didn't have much luck growing things other than basil while we were in Cairo (2002-2007), but then I did not try very hard.

Did Cairo American College ever move out your way? It had been in Maadi for years when we lived there, and the school's Board of Trustees badly wanted to move out to a larger, newer campus in Katameyya. All parents (me included) thought that was a terrible idea. Given the tough times Egypt has been through (which has probably decreased the size of CAC's student body, due to fewer expats and rich Egyptians either leaving altogether or not having as much financial security as before), staying in Maadi was probably a good idea.

What do you do in Cairo? Have you taken a hike through Wadi Degla? If you haven't, you really should - it is awesome! And the White Desert is even better, although it is more of a production to go camping there.

Hi Puspa,
American college still in Maadi. There's lot of international school in new cairo / katameya area, but I don't know much. Kids no longer with us.
Maadi is more vibrant, but for security reason my company only allow us to live in two gated compound in new cairo.
Wadi degla not very far; I can see from the roof. visit there one time only.
I heard white dessert is amazing, but again, we are not allowed to go.

Here, I'm looking for "sesuap nasi" working for one of the big 5 oil and gas company.
anyway if you visit Egypt you know where to go

Hey! Welcome to the forum Pak Wisnu. Glad to see you here among us and waiting forward to see some of the many astonishing pics of the "Wisnu family on tour".

Thanks you sir, sorry a bit late to the party.
We were in UK for almost three weeks and didn't check the forum.
We have to reduce our "mudik" trip to Indonesia since we have to allocate our time for the beauty of red sea and our daughter in Nice and London.

Hi Puspa,

Pffft... maybe we should age people by hair follicles... that must put me in the top 5 of the youngest
:mullet::rofl:

Heu... c'est quoi des "follicles" (what's that?)?

Anyway, if we were aging people by their mental aged I will.... ooh! no, you are still beating me!!!

Greetings to everyone from Malaysia. I have been married to my Indonesian wife for 12 years now but during that period, we have been living in Brunei where I work. I have just retired recently last July at the age of 44 and residing in Tulungagung, Jatim. I am also in the process of applying for a Kitas sponsored by an Indonesian spouse so hopefully everything goes as planned. Hope to get lots of advices from you guys in future. Cheers.

Originally South London, England. 12/13 Years in Jakarta and about 11 in Bali.
Worked all over the world but Indonesia is where I call home now.

May as well chuck my two in...

Originally from Brisbane, QLD Australia, but joined the Army at 17 had to get my mummies permission :dizzy:, was mainly based at one unit since it was specialised, did a few trips overseas in the time I was in. After I got out I moved and worked all over Australia, spent a lot of time working in the mines and was one of those referred to as a CUB (cashed up bogan) that regularly visited Bali and loved it, met my better half that way years ago but we didn't hook up..

I've live in Holland in The Hague for a few years before returning to boring old Aus, and now live in Jakarta since January this year... Enjoying it mostly with the odd annoyance on things that are antiquated still when dealing with either shops or the government lol..

oh and a youngin by being a 77 model :peace:
