War

Referring back to comments about George Galloway... his Twitter account is now labelled as "Russian state-affiliated media"
He denies it.
My take- if one is paid/employed by a country to comment in their state media one is affiliated. It is pretty cut & dried.

Damn, not what I really like thinking about very oftern even though it stays with me tucked into the corners of this old brain. I was on the ground and seen first hand the horrors of war. Be it that it was 50+ years ago, the question I carried never changed. Why? A question never answered.

Today I see the feeds of the wounded and dead. The days of black and white media are gone and one sees in living, or not living full color. It's a heart breaking image for most. I got to see them in the past in color while the media was still posting in black and white. I got to see them laying on the ground, on stretchers, tables, and in operating situations. Those were heart breaking real wounds and destruction caused by war. I am seeing a repeat of wounds caused by war, only now they seem worse. There are more loss of limbs and tearing deep wounds. Weapons of war have progressed to be more damaging for quicker kills.

I remember when I first entered Vietnam, I was told by a doctor that it is shocking yes but I would become numb to it. I did, I had a job to do and that was first and foremost, save lives. Unfortunantly, I could not save all that were before me. Yes, doing the job you do become numb to it. If you didn't you could never do what was needed of you. That doesn't mean you forget it or ignore it. That question of why always remains with you.

I have seen the suffering and now see it again. No, Ukraine is not the only place I have seen it in recent years. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Palistine, Sudan, and on the streets of the USA. The only common denominator for most is countries led by dictators and want to B dictators. A power thing. People are threatening nuclear arms use and one has to look at who is doing that. Dictators and they will be the cause of Armageddon. I may not be around long enough to experience the end of the world as we know it but I feel I may be for the beginning of it with the likes of putin and kim that are both psychopaths that don't care if their own populations are destroyed as long as they start it.

War is ugly and if you are unfortunate enough to withess it's results first hand, it is much more ugly. Today we see residential areas being destroyed. Civilians tageted. We seen the same thing in Syria done by the same nation. I never witnessed first hand the destruction of large permanent buildings like that, the jungles of SE Asia doesn't support that too much but I can say the damage to human bidies and lives still relate and it is not pretty. It is not something to just shrug off and say, oh well, it happens. Why? Only one has that answer and it seems that his answers are nothing but lies to hide behind. Worse yet, those that support him and his actions.

People that have no idea as to the horrors of war. Those that sit on their asses and search endlessly to find rediculas articles to support their own ideas. These people support any actions of the psychopaths. These people share in the guilt of all those who's lives have been affected by war no matter the side they were fighting on. Dead or mutilated is dead or mutilated on either side and all have families that mourn them. One side for a cause and the other to follow the lies they were fed.

Someone ask me if I would vollunteer to go to Ukraine and fight for them. I said I would but know little of fighting, especially in urban areas. I said I would go and lend a helping hand in hospitals where manynhealthcare workers have resigned due to what they are seeing and theamount of trama they were facing. Then again, I admit, with my age and being out of the medical business for quite sometime, I would be in the way more than being hepful. That they don't need.

When it ends, the psychological evils take over. Sure one easily says they would kill rather than be killed or they would kill to protect one of their own. Killing is hard. It is hard on the individual that kills even if it is to save oneself. It stays with you. Killing inocents, especially children will haunt someone their entire life. They may be ruthless killers led by psychopaths and feel little at the time but their conscious will take over once the pressure of war subsides. I know killing will stay with someone even if it was to save yourself or another. Been there and I can say it is never forgotten. Ever. Forever.

I will admit that while war is hell in earth, sometimes to end a war it needs to be esculated first. In the long run less lives could be lost. In the case of the current russian invasion of Ukraine, chasing the russians out by any means would be a defeat for putin and that may be enough to stop it all.

The worst part is that many among the European middle class are just lobotomized by constant bombardment of fake news that makes them to live in an alternate reality. It is sad because the masses are those who will feel the consequences of the actions of the European leaders first and they are many.

Change "the European middle class" to “us” & "European leaders" to "The Deep State" & this sounds awfully like it could have come straight from the mouth of my conspiracy theorist, anti vax, pro trump brother who now says that even this war is about Russia helping to purge the world of The Deep State who are out to kill 90% of us & enslave the rest....... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ..... :wall::wall::wall:

I often think it is better to let people have their voice, it shows us how their mind works. That way we can decide for ourselves if we want to further explore/ally with their thinking or just smack down on the ignore button once we got bored to tears with their rhetoric.
Giving a voice doesn't have to mean they have anything worthwhile to say- that also shows up for itself in their rhetoric.
If they have no voice or if they stay silent we learn less... So don't silence them, even if what we are learning is negative stuff, for example; that they are gullible/in a very specific minority niche/aggressors/just odd/trolls etc.

While the world is watching what russia is doing, many eyes have been removed from what china is doing. China has built vast areas with hundreds of silos for balistic missles capable of striking anywhere in the world. Their agreement with russia to control the West is in all likelyhood being played out in their war rooms now. China is watching closely what russia is capable of militeristly on the ground and can see the russian forces are embarrasing their military. China sees russia as a possible stooge to be used as a tool to use tactical nukes on some small nation to draw the West in and then china laying waste to the west. The main thing stopping them right now is neither china or russia has the capabilities to control the seas or skys. They are both working overtime to gain more strength in those areas. Russia is reopening it's program to get their cold war nuke bombers on line again as we speak.

I know Indonesia feels it is safe. They say they are neutral so no one should bother them and they won't bother others. They fail to see that if china goes to war Indonesia has the natural resources they will require and I doubt they will offer to buy them for long. Indonesia has a big head as to their military capabilities and even with the purchase of all those fighters coming in a few years, Indonesia has no experience in real war. China has said they have ambition to control all of Asia and stratigically, where better to control Asia than Indonesia. China talks nice to Indonesia so all must be good.

This invasion of Ukraine is but a stepping stone for putin. That is the reason it is so important for Ukraine to stand and defeat them. Eventually russia and china will join forces. I can imagine a map hanging in china and russia of the earth divided in 2. Half for china, half for russia. It will never happen but in the mean time you could see the end of humanity.

Sorry for posting a Twitter link but really it is all getting too grim and we need some real feel good stuff- how's this one to be going on with- you may well need tissues.

I agree, and I think Twitter does as well. Adding a disclaimer isn't silencing them, it's just adding some context for readers who aren't familiar with the posters background, biases, employer, etc.

You may be a 'Stan Grant' silencing opposing views or worse, but Atlantis is not :LOL::LOL:
While I agree there is no need to silence anyone's views on things, I do find your response here rather hipocritical in light that it is you that supports a nation and it's barbaric leader who run the biggest propaganda enterprise in the world and censures and harshly punishes anything that goes against the state (party) line.

I am open to difference of opinion, but I am not tolerant of plain dishonesty and bald-faced lies. You are entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts.

While twitter merely adding disclaimers to certain people, it did ban Trump, along with thousands of bots. Dangerous misinformation is too much even for them.

Somebody inevitably will comment that western social media are engaging in censorship, so they’re no different from Chinese and Russian media. Well, this is like saying the Russian army is no different than its Ukrainian counterpart because they both kill.

There is a difference. Western social media put a real effort in integrity and accomodating various opinions, while Russian and Chinese ones don’t even pretend to be honest and impartial.

Now we see where you get your idea that you are some kind of political analisist. Geopolitics wiki is nothing but a mouthpiece for anything anti democratic, thus, anti West. One view, end of their story. If they ever looked and paid attention to an alternate view, the world would end.

Nothing like grasping for staws. Just entertainment, you are.

I favor debate and discussions. My problem with you is that there are almost none.

As @dafluff and I have pointed at before, we have no interest in seeing just links on this board. Most users here are grown adults so if we really want to search the internet to get ideas and opinions different than ours, we can. Very easily. We don't need anyone for that and to be honest I consider posts with only links a waste of my time and a visual disturbance.

What users here want is a REAL discussion, with arguments and elaboration. If you get what I mean it's fine to me even if your opinion is very probably very different from mine on many topics.
I am usually in favor of a light moderation but if you continue to ignore or to not understand our Posting Guidelines, I will be the first one to back up a cancellation of your privilege here and believe me Stan Grant will probably appear to you all by sudden as a cool guy.

See... I took the time to do 4 paragraphs, and if you look at @dafluff 's post above he also took time to explain you what the links he pasted are about and what consequences they have. Very simple. Thanks to understand and comply.

Another bullshit. Ukraine didn’t start this, nor did US, UK, or NATO.

In 2014 Ukrainians wanted to be part of the European Union (Not NATO), but Putin’s lackey Yanukovych pushed for closer ties to Russia instead. Yanukovych’s government fell, and in response Russia invaded Crimea then encouraged and financed the separation of Donbas. Shocked by Russia’s military action, Ukraine began to seek NATO protection.

Russia started this.
