Just another way to screw you since there are a lot of people driving around with no insurance of any kind. Some states make it mandatory to have but not all. No matter, get in an accident that you are not at fault and your rates drastically jump up.
Most policies around here come with uninsured motorist coverage at little cost; I have both underinsured and uninsured coverage. It's actually a good deal; no good reason not to have it.
