Tsunami in Anyer and Lampung

Last night 9pm a tsunami caused by the eruption of Anak Krakatau volcano hit Anyer, Tanjung Lesung and Pandeglang in Banten as well as Lampung.

The wave reached 3m.

As of 7am this morning, there are 43 victims.

This is really a bad year for disasters in Indonesia...

According to BNPB latest count there are 43 lives lost, 584 injured, and 2 missing. Numbers will probably rise as more information comes out.


A local band was having a concert on the beach, and the video of the wave hitting the stage behind them is truly terrifying.

BMKG reports it's a tidal wave rather than a tsunami.

Its not that long ago my hubby was playing a gig on that beach.
Very sad for all who died.

I thought tidal wave was a synonymon of Tsunami.

Waves created by the cycle of the moon can magnify the size of a Tsunami when they occur simultaneously, but they are not the same.
