News to today is the the military have been given until Monday to come up withj $50 billion in cuts.

I was watching the news last night, and they said the Gov. wants to cut 8% of the military budget. At $50 Billion. That's only 8%. That means the total budget is close to $500 Billion dollars. Wow, That's some big bucks!
And why only 8% for the Military, and other programs, almost 100%?

All of this talk is so Sad, and Depressing! Why is this World so Screwed Up! Why is it that we call a Country a Super Power, just because they have lots of Weapons of Mass Destruction?

An army being to defend your country against an invasion, and you having a vast ocean on the East and the West, reducing your army 50% is sure faisible.
It's not like Canada or Mexico will try to invade the US....
And closing those 800 overseas military bases should save a lot of money as well !
Because that mighty 850 b / year army has lost every war they fought since 1945 !

I don't know why I have to spoon feed you everything. It's like you don't know how to research on your own and when I do post a link you don't believe it but here are few freebies. If you don't believe a .gov website or NPR there isn't much I can do for you. While it is true they don't receive a lot of federal benefits (their kids born in the US do though) the local and state governments more than make up for it and Trump withholding funds from those areas will have the same net benefit of saving that money.

Thanks for the links. Actually I'm not that computer savvy, so I don't know how to look up these links. How do you post them blue? I do watch NPR and Democracy Now. I actually helped Amy Goodman once at a Solar Eco-educational festival, in Hopland Ca. She was going to speak up on stage, and needed to change her clothes. I had a Bali import stall, so she used my dressing room! I met Darryl Hannah at the same festival. I gave her a nice silk chiffon scarf!
Those were some nice, care free days. Buying goods in Bali and India, and selling them up and down, the West coast of The States. No Politics!

The defense budget covers more than just the Army. The US military have never lost a war. You can thank Congress and presidents for those. Bases, really, the US doesn't need a single friend. I wonder where France will fall under Putin and the tri power world. Probably will be top of the list with their unwillingness to ever stand and fight.

Americans were raised on Hotdogs, McDonald's, Wendy's, gallons of Coca Cola, greasy fried chicken, and Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum, and Moon pies. So now you think they should healthy food. They don't know what healthy food is! It was never taught to most of the people. And what about the Mom with the five kids, and not enough $ to last the month. Some people have no compassion and are so self absorbed, they don't give a damn about others plights! And what is really Nutritious? Just look at any packaged food, or bottled drink from a Supermarket. For instance- Tater Tots.
