I think my kid does better when he is with his Indonesian mother. If I'm with him the sales ladies pinch his cheek and say how handsome he is... then notice me and seem to think, "oh, but he'll look like that later", and lose interest. Whereas when he is with his mother, the sales ladies can indulge in endless speculation about how handsome and wonderful the bule father is and how handsome the little boy will grow up to be. Actually, I suppose it is his loss either way, as he hates having his cheek pinched and protests being accosted by strangers by refusing to speak to them. This leads to a "firm" rebuke from me, "I know they are annoying, but you can just say hi. It's polite."If im not there my wife gets asked whose child does she have. Hes good for taking to Vionata Shopping Centre and walk past the cosmetics counter. I bask in the reflected glory.
