The Cage is now open! Please, register here for access.

Care to find out? Just say the word and you will be a cager (you are eligible because you are already a Charter Member).
Oh okay then ... but I just thought that if I needed to sling abuse or do some real bitchin' standard mode would suffice ..... but mud wrestling never entered my mind.

Does this mean you'd like to join the cage?

I would totally like to join the cage. I get bored easily

Welcome to the Forum Elphaba...maybe you can undo the boredom :bored: and tell us a little about why you joined.

BTW you will need to make 200 posts before eligible to join this eclectic 'Cage'. What is said there stays there but I can let you into a little secret....
so far I haven't seen any topless mudwrestling...but I sneak a peek every so often :peep: ......just in case.

As a reminder, the requirements are 200 posts AND 2-month membership. VH has reached the 200 posts but not yet the 2 months.

Does my former tenure in the old forum get me grandfathered to be a charter member here so I can be added to this cage thing?

That ship has sailed.

Indeed.

We setup the Charter Membership as a reward for our very first members who followed us during the transition.

But you can still access the cage starting from 19 Jan 2017, if you already have 200 posts.

Although less so these days, this "new" forum has not always been easy to locate. Could not the team exercise some discretion when it come for folks with an established reputation from the House of Frankenstein, but poor internet navigation skills?

Is it appropriate to suggest changing that charter incentive rule. Most of the 'profoundly-erudite contributors' have already joined and most of those left behind just missed the transition because they might have been busy elsewhere and didn't notice. There are many that were secretly lured by email/PM, including myself, so....if they were previous posters why not give 'em a break.

To me the 200 posts and 2 months seniority is an important threshold for a simple reason: in the past it never took more than 2 months and/or 200 posts to the Mod Team to acquire the conviction that a member of the community was a problem to it (read: a particularly toxic troll being able to hurt the community or some of its members).

if we consider that The Cage is an almost unmoderated part of our forum, it makes sense to enforce this threshold to make sure that it remains bearable.

Now, if we talk about people we already know due to their past post history in a forum we have been moderating, it sure doesn't have the same importance. It is something which may be discussed among us in our mod channel, but personally I wouldb't see this threshold as important as for people we don't know or that we know were troublesome.

If the Cager title is something which we can freely set, the Charter Member stamp has been unfortunately lost on August 15th, 2016. It's therefore not a solution available. Charter Members are those of us who have pushed this damn ship from the dock to the sea for it to sail.

The Charter Members aren't just people who posted at the old place, though. They didn't have to have good internet navigation skills to find us, because they were active at LII, lived through the debacle that was the "upgrade," and told each other where the new place was (since it took a while for the old place to ban our name - it was shared both in the open forum and via PM for a while).

So, Charter Member doesn't just mean "someone who had a posting history at LII." It means someone who was part of LEXIT.
