Surabaya Church Bombing

It is a very sad fact, these bombing effect Muslims as well, it’s quite depressing reading every Friday some nut case has blown up Muslims at prayer, I don’t know how many thousands it runs into now, we just don’t see an end to it, I read Densus 88 shot dead 4 bombers in East Java, the were plotting to carry out bombing attacks during Ramadan, quite what these prats hope to achieve beats me, as @harrypal says it reflects badly on innocent Muslims who just want to get on with their daily life, but are treated with suspicion

Hope those lunatic shoot dead especialy the mastermind. Some people just can't see other people happy withh their lives. It is a really sad sad thing. Hope the special force that should protect the citizen really work hard to keep the peace.

I also think they (Indonesians) do not realize that all the tribal fighting in the Arab world/middle east is a tribal/caliphate based problem that has been going on for centuries before Islam even got to Indonesia. Roughly 500 years.

Syria, Saudi,Iran etc has nothing to do with the majority of Indonesians who just go on happily as they have for generations.

Densus 88 should recruit some more Bataks just for good measure. Not many fcuk with them?

I find it very difficult to understand the mentally of a mother and a father taking their kids to a bombing and how this could possible further aid their strange belief of blowing up innocent people to obtain support for a strange religion that bears no resemblance to the Islam that the majority of Islam that Indonesians follow

When it comes to religion and belive, all the logic thinking will fail, sad but often seen. Not only by 'muslims', also other religion groups.

What an ugly world these animals must live in, whereby their hate is greater than their love for their own children. Its beyond me to be able to comprehend that. All over a "my imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend" mentality. Those poor kids.

If any of you are U.S. residents or citizens, their Embassy sends out alerts in advance of possible uprisings. The one below I received two days before the Friday attacks occurred. They were associating these "demonstrations" to the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. Here was the email:

date: Wed, May 9, 2018 at 5:33 PM
subject: Demonstration Alert - Indonesia: Demonstrations on Friday, May 11, 2018

Demonstration Alert: Demonstrations on Friday, May 11, 2018

The upcoming relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Israel on May 14 may spark protests, some of which have the potential to become violent.

One of the problems the police and security personnel have is the terrorist laws of Indonesia are not comprehensive enough to allow full investigation into potential terrorist activity.
The RI Terrorist Law was written in 2003 after the Bali Bombing in 2002 (doesn't time fly)... but were not allowed to be retro-active to that case. There was an amendment written in February 2016, after the last terrorist attack in Jakarta, and that revision still hasn't been finalized. President Widodo said if not passed by next session of parliament he will issue a perppu.....

Hopefully, with more far-reaching laws to find how those radicals are operating, they will be apprehended before carrying out any more horrific attacks.

There has been an attack at the police station in Riau , just watching on metro , im sure this lunacy will continue all over these Islands , as the cells get activated .

I'd like to excuse the bombers because:
The father was clearly stupid so it wasn't his fault
The woman was just a woman so can't really be expected to know much
The kids were kids so unable to know right from wrong.

That means there were no murders, only accidental killings when people got too brave.

In Europe all these guys stabbing people seem to be ‘confused’. According to mayors, politicians, police and press.

What - we aren't allowed to excuse murdering terrorist bastards?
Sorry, maybe only French ones.

After a couple of years of procrastinating the RI House has passed the amendments sought to the Terrorist Law of 2003 to enable the police and security forces to better challenge, detain and investigate potential terrorists.
I hope they use the law wisely and not end up like the Blaspheme Law which is widely used for political gains.

Posters by Gema Pembebasan, student organ of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, hung in a state-owned university. No sympathy to the victims.

No sympathy for the victims???

Below was posted on Quora;

Perhaps PKS did officially condemn the bombings, as did some other ideologically similar organizations. Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, for example, hung posters condemning the action. But at the same time, instead of expressing condolence to the victims, they warn that the terrorist actions are "rekayasa", engineered, fake, made just to blame the muslims. Their condemnation is apparently not genuine, just formality to hide their actual response to the action.

That they did not express anything to show sympathy to the victims is understandable. They tend to see other religions as threat to Islam, as those who never pleased with the existence of Islam, as those who only want to subjugate muslims. As if they thought that if the people of those religions are hurt, so be it.

I have overheard a sermon by Basalamah, a today's popular salafi preacher. He, not surprisingly, stated similar comment on Surabaya bombings, warned that it could be fake and explained that the teaching of terror can also be found in the holy books of the Jews and Christians, so therefore they did the crusade, colonialism, muslim slaughtering in Bosnia etc., as if he wanted to say that if a muslim commit evil action to non-muslims, it is understandable and should not be blamed as others also did it.

They may officially condemn any terrorist action and deny any support. But judging from their ideology as well as their attitude, we can never expect they do it genuinely. There could be, by and large, a solidarity with the evil-doers.
