Ok, I'd like to submit my first suggestion:

Atlantis, you need to put your gecko avatar back on, since it's just not the same without!

Jeez! I totally forgot to upload it! I don't even know if I still have the pic I uploaded 8 years ago. Perhaps I can get it back from the ruins of LIIF. I promise you that if I can't find it on any of my computers I'll be brave enough to go through a session of few "refresh" to get it back.

I downloaded my old avatar from the other place but when uploading it here I was told it was the wrong format.. and I am not so techie so I made a new me :)

The server told me the same. It's because when I saved it on my computer I've modified the file name which was something like avatar.gif and saved it without the extension .gif.
I just made a visit to LIIF, downloaded it again without modifying the extension and uploaded it here: no problem.

I don't mind the new look- but I cannot see it on the board yet.
But thanks for the advice A :)

I think it is because you uploaded it as a "profile picture" (it is visible in your profile), not as an avatar. It seems that we have the same rather poor technical skills. Whenever you are in troubles, just ask me: there are good chances that went through the same headaches. :)

I have a sensible suggestion (well I think it is)
In the outside of Jakarta places can we have a sticky with basic info for each location as it comes up (assuming any members wish to write up about the areas they know)

I think it will be useful as a type of directory for the different cities/ provinces & hopefully will save on cluttering the board up with all the repeated questions - it is the neat freak that lurks in side of me that made me suggest this.

& whilst the neat freak comes to the fore... is there any way of preventing threads for visas and other such things from becoming a victim of their own success- such as a 7 day leave an off topic post up & then auto delete it or designate some poor soul to police the info to keep it up to date and have a big red stamp to splat on the obsolete information posted?? yeah, I know pie in the sky ideals there haha

We can do that, or we can even have a per area sub forum! The one negative about sticky-ing it that I can think of is that if there ends up being lots of areas reviewed by members, there will be tons of stickies, and the non-sticky threads will be buried down below or even on the next page.

Yes! I totally agree with this. Some of the super long post threads over there were confusing as hell. We could go with updating the very first post in a thread with the most up to date information maybe? Something like a "All Information in this post is correct as of MM DD YY"...

1 the subforum idea might work :)
2How about when updating the first post, linking to the pertinent posts in the thread... so as an example if it discusses procedure for Capil - do an "as per the following link/post" Would save on rewriting things maybe?

Yes! This is exactly what I had in mind!

Since I can't avoid putting the birthdate option to register, does this mean I will get a kado for my birthday (which unfortunately has passed..)

You can avoid it being public tho' Banana :)

Suggestions : Pet / animals section?

That makes the most sense to me, as well. All the "necessary" info can be there in the first post and the rest of the thread can be for people to ask "but, am I special?" Some of those visa threads got so long it was just daunting to dig through them.

Sub layers for all the old categories probably wouldn't be a miss. It would be nice for the visas and legal category to have divisions for family, business, criminal, etc.

****Apparently they did this before I suggested it...day late and a dollar short.

Great minds think alike! That's what it means :)
