Should work & school be suspended tomorrow?

From my understanding the unrest is spreading outside of central and some parents even in outlying areas are keeping their kids home from school tomorrow. Definitely don't want to spend panic but it does appear that you need to pay close attention to your surroundings for now.

My kids school canceled Mondays classes. Our bank is closed, ATMs are open as far as I know.

Doesn’t look there will be demonstrations today. Student leaders say they want to avoid riots. Never know of course.

I heard there will be no classes this whole week.

Our factory has postponed all export shipments scheduled for this week, we want to avoid "hijack" incidents while transporting the containers to the port. You never know where the masses are going to be.

I am all for the People standing up for their basic Rights! The citizens of Any country cannot allow for the Authorities to use unnecessary force against the People for no reason! The Governments are supposed to serve the People, not the other way around!

Maybe you can tell us what these demonstrations have been all about then?

I'm sure you already know, but you're trying to bait me like usual, into saying something that you can find ways to try humiliate me! Remember the guidelines. Focus on the topic, not the other posters!

I asked a question about the topic. You posted that you supported the people, so I was asking why? If you don't want to interact with me, this is fine but this is public forum and you are a participant.

My kid will have class remotely on Tuesday. Another friend has had normal school hours on Monday.

I'm not really into politics, but looting houses and burning bus stops doesn't appear to be people standing up for their basic rights.
As best as I know (I'm very limited on local politics), Indonesia had a couple of dictators that lasted about 50 years between them, then a democracy until today. I gather the president has some sort of history that some dislike, but I have no real idea of the details. He seems to have been elected with a large majority, but the rioters want him out.
That would destroy the whole idea of a democracy, and what would they put in its place?
The few statements I've heard seem to be pushing a very left wing, possibly Marxist, agenda. I don't find that very appealing.

People are being distracted by outside antagonists, who start these fires, loot houses, to draw their attention away from the problem at hand. Wasn't it Politicians getting a lot of extra money for housing, above their current salaries? And during some Protest, a person on a motorbike got Run over and Killed by Police forces? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I am all for the Public standing up for their rights, against injustices coming from the Governments, Police, or Military forces, but what irritates me is it doesn't seem to change anything! The press keeps talking, and making money, and presenting the News. Some True facts, and Some False facts. But Nothing seems to change.
The Problems are Everyones Problems! Blaming the Left calling them Marxists, or blaming the Right calling them Fascists, is only another distraction, from solving the Problems. The poor working class 99 percent against the Rich 1 percent is the Root of the problem isn't it? I am not Politically educated enough, or have the Energy to get involved enough to change anything. From the little I've heard is the Government is being run by a Small group of the same Rich Families, their Children, and their Cronies, who have been and still Control the System?
Someone with more knowledge about this matter, Please speak up and give us a more Clearer explanation, and maybe ideas for Solutions to the Current situation? By the Way. This sounds exactly like the Current situation in The US! 👍🙏✌️

I am against violent demonstrations.
Unfortunately most of the time peacefull demonstrations dont achive much.

Ay least this time the government backpedaled...

Ok, let's not
go political. It is not the topic, and there are already enough conspiracy theories on Y.T. concerning those events....
And we are just immigrants, so simply stay on the side.

Remember, as immigrant, always be prepared to pack up and leave !

I never said that I am against Violent Demonstrations! Or that peaceful demonstrations don't achieve much. This post made it look like I said that.
I take offense to someone making it look like I said that! Please don't put words in other Posters Mouths!
I did say I don't think Protests and demonstrations don't change anything! I wish they did, but the Powers that be, seem to have a teflon coating and commit crimes with Not Any Consequences! The Police running over a driver, and they will probably not get in any trouble for this. Politicians getting over paid, while the economy is suffering! Something has to change but How?
A similar situation is happening in the US. The President is violating the Constitution and sending US troops against its own People, without proper approval by The Judicial system, and the Congress! It is stated in the Constitution that this is illegal! But he is finding ways to go around the Law.
I admit, I am not qualified to say anymore. But even with my lack of knowledge, I can see Injustice!

I decided to take a look, and I found the man getting killed on YouTube.
He seemed to be part of the riot, and he died when a speeding police vehicle's driver appeared to get too excited and made a duff choice.
I'll leave others to decide the validity of the non-violent protester's points, but the violent ones are pretty much a waste of oxygen.
I did notice a retired intelligence guy (Whatever the CIA is called out here) say foreign actors were being it.
I suppose he's more likely to know than us, but I didn't see anyone come up with anything to support him, but that's the goings on in a shadow world we 'normals' have no access to.

One of the "conspiracy" theorie going around is that the US is not happy about the close ties between Indonesia and China / Russia and decided to put some oil on the fire as a gentle reminder ....
I'll stop it here, but after all since over 70 years it is the CIA's bread and butter.

He was not part of the riot, he was there to deliver food to someone who ordered it from Gojek. I saw on YT a video shot from the left side of the road (most videos circulating on YT were shot from the right side), looks like he fell because someone (man in white) shoved him while running across the road. What I don’t understand is why the man in white (who is already safe from the speeding armored car) ran from the left side to the right side in front of the vehicle. Intentional or not (the shove), I don’t know. But looks like the accident happened due reckless driving (panicked police trying to get away). In the meantime, mob swarmed the vehicle and pounding on it. The driver decided to step on the gas*, perhaps forgetting that they were safe inside an armored car. I don’t know why protesters didn’t pull out the injured Gojek driver from under the vehicle which stopped momentarily. Was he pinned down? Were the protesters more focused on vengeance?

* Long-timers in Indonesia know that mob justice is common. That’s why some drivers don’t stop (if they can) in an accident. They go straight to the nearest police station.

Deddy Corbuzier, Indonesia’s Joe Rogan, in his podcast reveal the involvement of CIA.

The podcast is in Indonesian, if you understand Indonesian but don’t have the time to finish the one-hour show, just watch the 30-second opening teaser where Ulta (terrorism expert) expose the agenda to disrupt (I believe she meant through the rioting, not the peaceful demonstrations) President Prabowo’s planned trip to China to attend the September 3 Victory Day Parade. Nevertheless, the President made the trip on a red-eye flight but failed to attend the earlier SCO summit.

Ulta also mentioned her conversation with an unamed Minister who revealed that he (or she) was invited to dinner by a Deputy CIA Director to thank him (or her) for advising then President Jokowi NOT to join BRICS.
