Shortage of 498,000 teachers in Indonesia next year?

Jesus was the son of God, not a prophet. It's written in the bible. How would you like it if people start saying incorrect things about your top guy on a public forum?
You say it about Islam all the time but you feel different when it has to do with your religion. Can dish it out but can't take it. Sounds about right.

There is a religion that teaches its followers to hate Jesus, that he was a liar, a sorcerer, and an adulterer, and that he will burn in excrement in hell. But I assume you know very well that this religion is not Islam, David.
Islam teaches us that Jesus was a prophet and one of the best people who ever lived on earth. However, Muslims believe that Jesus was created by God and that, as part of creation, he may not be worshipped. Only the Creator has the right to be worshipped.
If there is an eight-year-old child who does not know this, he must be taught to respect Jesus as a prophet.
Throughout history, similar situations have happened in many religions. There have always been individuals or sects whose views were seen as offensive to the prophets, lord, sacred figures, or beliefs of other faiths. In many cases, these groups did not represent the mainstream beliefs of their religion.

To me, this is one reason why it is better to keep religion and the state separate. In a diverse society, everyone should be subject to the same laws, regardless of their religion or beliefs.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental principle of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and should be respected. Indonesia recognises the UDHR, but in practice freedom of expression is still subject to certain restrictions, especially when it comes to religious matters. That is why some people argue that there is still a gap between the principles Indonesia has endorsed and how they are applied in reality.
good example in here is 'Ahok' charged with blasphemy, the implementation of shariah law in Aceh. Also, the existence of religious boarding schools that make the matter worse as reasonable number of them keep brainwashing the school children since their childhood. So when they grow up some of them justify killing people commit the suicide bomb.

I have never questioned anything about the leading figures in Islam. Pointing out that Indonesia is not implementing the religion properly isn't 'dishing it out' it's just a statement of fact.

I have always lived according tk my culture, whatever country I lived in.
Years ago, in HKG, I set up the Christmas tree, my gf at the time (my companion now) went " next year I do it".
Now Xnas is not really a religious thing, more a cultural one, and even more a commercial one.

So yep, since years, she (Hindu) handles it. And I must say, maybe it is the feminine touch, but it is better than when I do it.
3 years ago I decided to add the crypt at the bottom of the Christmas tree.
Now of course I have to explain her (not convert) what is the meaning of it.
Try to explain (with Wikipedia) that Virgin Maria is virgin , but the baby in the craddle is hers, and Father Joseph is only her spiritual father...
And the 3 travellers (from white to colored and black) just happened to pass by the oasis...without even a camel....
And I am not yet at the buffalo, the goat, the sheep.

At the end I agreed with her, yes indeed it doesn't make sense...
She just added a few lights in the crypt, so it looks like a disco....😅😅😅
It is a simple example of where we are VERY different, but can accept to pretend to live with those differences....
Is it hapiness (don't mention LOVE), I am not sure, but with a few JD it is bearable !

Not practicing it properly according to you? That is fact?

Not really sure why you chose to be here. You seem to dislike most everything about the country. You knew this was the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, right? Do you have anything positive to say about Indonesia?
Criticizing is not the same thing as disliking.

Aus ABC reports today that there are more than half a million temporary teachers earn just $174 a month. Some just $43 a month and one remote area $11 a month. The problems are said to be related to the free food for students program coming out of the education budget.

US$174 is equivalent to around Rp3.1 million. Many hourly-paid honorary teachers working in villages, whether in private or public schools, do not even earn that much.

Keep in mind that these teachers are not civil servants. In some cases, they have to walk several kilometres every day just to reach the schools where they teach.

I have mentioned many times that if the government genuinely wants to improve teachers' welfare, the focus should be on these underpaid private, non-civil servant teachers. For example, they should be given priority for appointment as civil servants, or their salaries should be topped up by the government so they are comparable with those of other teachers.

It should not be done simply by increasing the salaries of civil servant teachers. Civil servant teachers are already paid on the same salary scale as other government employees working in different departments. Increasing civil servant teacher salary will mean other state employees will also need to rise. Could they effort it ??

Also a civil Servant job in Indonesia is literally a job for life, with a decent state pension. It is extremely difficult to make them redundant, even if they do not do their job properly.
