Just watching MNC TV news. A ridiculous story about the launch of a cosmetic called Juicy Glow. So looked up ownership of Juicy Glow.... Soulyu. And who owns Soulyu? Valencia Tanoesoedibjo, the daughter of the owner of MNC. Hary Tanoesoedibjo is shameless in misusing the channel to promote his own commercial and political interests.

Media owners do this around the world. Harry Tano may be a little more blatant, but just for another example, look through the Jakarta Globe's website and see how many positive portrayals you can find about Universitas Pelita Harapan or Sekolah Pelita Harapan. Who owns the Jakarta Globe? Lippo Group. Guess who owns UPH and SPH...

Yes, I am familiar with the universality of this phenomena but Tano is not just "a little bit more blatant." I sometimes wonder if he is pushing his daughters to enter politics and perhaps the presidency as they appear so often in so many "news" stories. The other pain in the neck is blocks of advertisements that run consecutively for 15 minutes or more. I guess the simple response might be to ignore MNC but this is the only network that carries ABC TV Asia with Aussie rules football.

It’s always a bit shady when the news is pushing something connected to people in power. Sounds like a clear case of using influence for personal gain. No surprise there, though-happens more often than we'd like to admit.

Because he owns MNC it is at his disposal to use as he pleases.

It's done everywhere.
In France all TV channels belong to some oligarque. Oops, billionaire...
And all of them are close to Macron ! After all, they got him elected !
