Here's a big one.

We are not sure exactly what we will do with this yet.

Reputation points have been replaced by Likes, Trophies and Points.

Likes:

When importing the vbulletin data into Xenforo, the reputation points are converted to Likes.

Now, when you like a post, it's the equivalent of a Thanks as well as adding to the user's points.

Trophies:

Trophies are milestones in your forum life that award you points.

Example milestones:
  • Your First Post
  • You received a Like
  • 30 Posts
  • 100 Posts

and so on.

Each Trophy awards you some points and they all have different weight. For instance, the Your First Post trophy will give you 2 points, whereas your 100 Posts trophy will give you 10 points.

Points:

Points will determine 2 things:

1. Your overall score, which doesn't really mean anything other than you post a lot and/or you are liked a lot.

2. Your User Title:

Depending on how many points, your user title progresses along a ladder such as this:

  • New Member
  • Member
  • Active Member
  • Well-Known Member

We may improve on this one way or another with some plug-ins that will enable you to like but also unlike. Still discussing this.

Also note: the likes, trophies and user titles only update once a user has logged for the first time in the new forum version. So it's normal if you see old member as newbies with 0 likes, 0 points and 0 trophies if they are non-testers and therefor have never logged in on the preview forum.

I recall on our old forum how the rep system was discussed as there was abuse. I recall some members liked to gang-up on another and use reps to discredit their posts....so I hope that system isn't used.
I've hardly ever ticked like/dislike as I prefer to make a comment one way or the other and keep the thread flowing.
I'm not against a 'like' button as I understand members like to appreciate another's post without comment, but I'd prefer to negate any 'dislike' button.
Frankly I've no idea what those green buttons mean so imo they're superfluous.
The DOJ and number of posts by any member is a good idea as it gives a clue to newbies of the contributions and seniority of the member. The rest is fluff.

Could we have the breakdown of all the "milestones"?

The user titles don't make a lot of sense. What would be the difference between a Member and Active Member. That makes it look as if you were not posting for a certain period of time you would/could change from Active Member to Member. All user titles seem really generic at best. Perhaps you need to come up with ideas and put a poll out on them for each position.

The old old forum did have some brick abuse but it hasn't happened on the current one to date. I still think there is a need for a positive and negative feedback system.

Davita, as for fluff. Some fluff is good. Like marshmallow fluff.

Like the current forum, will feedback given by those with higher points weigh more then those with lower points or is it all the same now without regards to current rankings?

You can see a the trophies (which you call milestones) that you have received by going to your profile and clicking the number next to Trophies:

To see all available trophies, click on "View All Available Trophies" in the window that popped-up:

I think all feedback is valid whether from old members or newer members because everyone uses the forum differently.

But the list of users we have invited for the first round of preview/testing is no coincidence. It's a list made of top posters as well as posters of whom we value the opinion.

So all feedback is welcome but ultimately, we assess each feedback based on their own merit. We, as moderators, also have a unique point of view of the forum which also has an impact on how we consider the feedback for certain aspects. One aspect I can think of is the reputation system: we all have slightly different opinions on it because we've seen the abuse in the other forum (and it wasn't pretty) and Atlantis, for instance, who has been around the longest, has even more insight than the rest of us on this. So in the end, even if we take into consideration feedback from our most active and renown members, we still add our own perspective to come up with what essentially is an arbitrary decision.

Hope it makes sense.

But in regards to the feedback received so far, let me say that it's been amazingly good even beyond my own expectations. It has also been quite humbling because I thought that we had nailed a lot more than we actually did. In the end, it's all an extremely positive and educating experience.

Which brings me to the answer to the question: why does it seem like we can't go beyond 48 points?

The answer is actually simple: each trophy is awarded once. The lowest hanging fruits have all been snatched already by the most prolific posters. In my case, this is what I've gotten so far:

This is the list of all trophies available (at this point in time, we haven't changed them yet):

It looks like my next Trophy will be the Seriously Likeable! trophy which will award me 15 points when I reach 100 likes.

Right now I'm at 31 likes so I still have quite a few to go. But when I do, I'll get the Seriously Likeable! trophy and my total points will increase to 48 + 15 = 63.

So the max seems to be 113 points. Odd it would just stop at 1000 post. Is this something that is changeable on your end?

Yes, definitely. We can add or remove as many trophies as we like with all sorts of conditions.

Likes are built over time so longevity seems to be the factor there. Shouldn't post get the same treatment since they come with longevity too. Someone could get 5 or more likes on one post but it will still be one post. Perhaps add something for each 1,000 post after the first 1,000 post like 20 points for each 1,000. Also, something if someone gets a large number of likes on a single post. If say, someone gets 10 likes on a single post, they would get 5 points. I just think that there shouldn't be a cap and have ways to increase in points over time and popularity.

That's precisely what I thought, I started making exactly this trophy but then got interrupted. Now, I've finished it so you should receive a notification that you got this new trophy.

Nothing new on my side.

That has been quite a big buzz; at first it was only about bragging rights but then they planned to have certain perks and advantages. I can't really think of any awards worthwhile on a forum though...

Nor can I.

Just a passing first impression: the new reputation system strikes me as overkill.

All this glitter and gold and trophies and fluff must be a requirement for an Indonesian forum...it carries forward the tradition of medals, gold braid and uniforms every Tito, Mohammed and Agus, who has some position in police or government, finds it mandatory to have to show status. I've only seen N. Koreans sport as many medals and big hats as Indonesians.
They should all take a lead from President Duterte..... he only has one shirt and it's stained in blood.
