Munich Shooting

Another tragedy. They are flying thick and fast.

From what I've read, the motivations of the shooter are a little unclear - he was shouting that foreigners should get out, or something? I need to check the latest news before I babble about it, though. (I came here first this morning.)

The early reports suggest he was a nut job obsessed with mass shootings.

How hard is it to get a gun in Germany?

Actually legally very hard, but in fact easy as guns flow from outside Germany, my brother has an illegal gun, he says lots of illegals around, his house is isolated in thick Forrest

According to what I read, legal ownership is very involved, with a lot of red tape. No law could have stopped this one as the kid got his gun illegally, the serial numbers on his Glock had been destroyed.

Since there is (was) no border control within EU, once a gun made it into Croatia it can make it into any EU country. It's not hard to imagine that leftover guns from the balkan wars are still around.

Yet, even if illegal guns are easily accessible, we do not seem to have the same level of gun violence in EU as in the US. So, what gives?

Disclaimer: I'm making this observation but I don't think I will have time to carry on with the conversation. In the "New Posts" section, I already have 3 pages of unread new posts. I can't keep up! Especially with all the other forum stuff behind the scene I still need to do. So I apologize in advance if I'm unable to continue what I may have started.

I think the number of guns available in USA pales even a war zone in any little European country. The entire Balkan war involved maybe several hundred thousand combatants. Let's be generous and say there are a million of leftover small arms, that's not even a third of a percent of the guns in USA.

I guess that answers it haha! I didn't think of seeing that way, which makes sense!
