Multi entry visum will expire - Advise required

Hi all,

I am in a confusing situation and I hope some people can share some experience with me.
I work for a Belgian furniture company and be source quite a lot of products in Indonesia.
For the moment I am in charge of all QC checking and follow up in Indonesia, using a multi entry 1 year visum.

We also have a small sister company in Bandung who does production exclusively for us.
As the workload for QC becomes bigger and bigger we decided that it would be good that I work from Indonesia & apply for IMTA/KITAS so I can work from our sister company in Bandung.
We thought this process could go quite fast but because our company is in process of moving to a new address some things got delayed because of licenses, etc.

Here starts my problem, because next week on November 7th my current multi entry business visum (D212) expires so I have to leave the country.
We went to the local immigration and they say they can not renew, I have to apply from another country for a new multi entry business visum.
It would be crazy I have to travel to Belgium just for this so they say that it would be more easy I just travel to Malaysia and do the application there in the Indonesian embassy.

I feel a bit strange as European guy to arrive in the Indonesian embassy in Malaysia to apply for a new visum.
Is this a common thing to do?

I want to follow the rules here to not compromise my IMTA/KITAS application and future planning, so any advise or experience will greatly appreciated...

Visa runs are very common, usually to Malaysia or Singapore.

It is not a problem to get your D212 abroad in another country than Belgium.

The problem I see though, is the timing. For a friend it took almost 2 weeks to get the visa. (With Jakarta approval and the infamous telex.) So that makes it too late for you if you need to be back at 7 November.

Something else: I remember they removed (part of) the QA/QC portion of the allowed business visa activities?! Not to worry, nobody will probably make an issue out of that but just make sure not to emphasize it too much.

yes, as we checked now for the telex approval, they are in transition to a new system for the moment and talk about big delays... :-(

first thing first just make sure you exit before the visa expires, fly to SG for an hour and come back on voa tourist 30day extendable so you have time, then yes you can apply from here for a new sosbud or whatever then you fly to sg or malay to collect it and come back, good to stay for 6 months again
but don't overstay, and consulate embassy is full of expat bule etc renew kitas, visa etc so dont worry, even can use agent is quicker

I think it hasn't been in place for multiple years already. So with a multi entry business visit of one year, normally you need to leave the country every 60 days, right?

But, as posted by quite some KBRI's:

The following purposes of visits require Foreign Workers Employment Permit (IMTA) issued by the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia:

1. Commercial film making activities that have been granted a film making permit by relevant institution.
2. Conducting audit, quality control, or inspection to a branch office in Indonesia with duration of stay for more than 30 days.
3. After sales works which include machinery and electrical instalation, as well as after sales service related to initial business assessment.

So the point 2 limits the work (in time) you can do in that area.

It's very normal for other nationalities to apply for these visas in Malaysia and Singapore. Malaysia will be cheaper but take longer (and therefore not cheaper unless you stay in very cheap accommodations), Singapore can be done in about 6 hours if using an agent.

Yes I did, Mustaza, lots of others use him, and yes they all take the same time, even KITAS, get it to him before 10a.m in the lobby of the Orchard hotel, he will have it back to you by 4p.m
I think KITAS costs about S$260 or S$280 now which is about S$60 more than doing it alone, which you cannot do in 1 day as they only let agents have same day turnaround so I am told.
So you can do it yourself but need to collect it next day which means you will spend that much on a hotel anyway

99% of people use an agent, the 6 month multi entry (SOSBUD?) and KITAS is all same process, but the SOSBUD is cheaper I think S$180
