Motorcycle Journeys

Joko is back on the road again after a full day & night with us yesterday- we wish to say - Lovely to meet you J & have a safe journey on your last leg of the trip.
Sorry the weather went against us, the road was closed & that everyone was drunk. ;)

Just a quick note letting people know I am safe back in Yangon. My imrpessions of the Casa de Bad Azz... still to come.

Looking at your writing (style) it seems you're still 'under the influence'?

Part five of the journey was perhaps my favorite road on the trip.

There's a blog that goes with this too.

It was the longest trip I've ever made in a single day. Ujung Genteng to Pangandaran. 358 kilometers on what turned out to be surprisingly very good roads. If we can call 'South Java" a place due to the geography of the island, it's an amazingly spectacular place with not so many people and wonderful trails upon which to travel...

Hooray on your safe return and your upcoming BA commentary - I have been to her house too, so we can compare notes.

I can admit it now that your journey is over - I was a little worried about your Pelabuhan Ratu to Ujung Genteng travel, because when we traveled in that region a few years ago we were warned that it could be a bit dicey, and I'm a bit of a mother hen. But I watched enough of your videos to see that you aren't some clueless, starry-eyed youngster who has no idea what they are getting into.* So, with some difficulty, I kept my mouth shut. (The scars on my tongue are healing nicely, thank you for asking.)

* I have an 18-year-old son, so perhaps can be forgiven for fretting along such lines.

Ahem...

Privately I hope :p
Feeling nervous that I am about to be outed on the net

Don't worry about me, bad_azz. My "outing" of you on the internet would concern nothing more than the kindness of your hospitality, the largeness of your dogs, and the deliciousness of your peanut butter cookies. I suspect Joko will be equally circumspect.* :)

*not that there is anything un-circumspect to say. Should there be? :)

I believe Mr J found it amusing to watch people's reactions to the Bule on the scooter in front of him.
Unlike many I can't hide my buleness under a bike helmet :D

I didn't get chance to do any baking for him either. I do believe he was rather taken by the delinquent dogs though.
As for un-circumspect things... if I told you I would have to kill you hehehehe

Hey folks! I've finally recovered from some computer hassles... a very SE Asian problem, water from my aircon leaked onto my laptop... and I'm posting part 7 of my recent jaunt around Java here at ExpatIndo before anywhere else. The premiere of the Pangandaran episode!

Here's some pics from the next leg of the journey... Pangandaran to Dieng.

My departure was delayed by finding a flat tire coming out of Pangandaran. Where's the tambal ban? Pak becak driver told me that way...

I went to the tambal ban and he charged me 50,000 Rupiah to fix the tire. It was quite involved in that it was a tubeless tire and he needed to add a tube to it to make it work.

But when I looked at the video, the man wouldn't look at me, a real sign he was overcharging me. It's all relative. Rp50K is duck feed in the grand scheme of things.

What is on this motorbike?

I'm from Yangon and I found myself in Wangon! Never heard of the place, but actually Wangon is at a major crossroads in west-central Java.

At the pigeon market... Why the obsession with merapi? It didn't look like they were being sold to be eaten.

I made a bit of wrong turn in Wonosobo and I found myself driving my motorcycle through a market. Slowly made my way through the pasar...

Getting closer to the highlands of Dieng...

Candi Arjuna...

Old Hindu sculpture is fascinating... Reminds me of Angkor Wat.

Corn anyone? With saus mentega...

If you're ever in Dieng, be sure to go up to the Dieng Theatre. There's a zipline there that only costs 40K. I'd never been on a zipline before...

Joko, you are the only expat in this forum that I know, who never worry/hesitate/scared/think twice/ etc of showing who you really are. Like Om Wisnu said, you are real.

Thumbs up for all your videos, I've enjoyed them. :thumb:

Well, thanks for that... And here's the next video... The zipline at the end, the flying fox, as they called out.. intense!
