Hi my wife has 5-year KITAP which expires in 2028. However, the re-entry permit expires in July 2025. So to prepare for extending the MRP.
1. what documents do I need to prepare to extend?
2. do I go to immigration office or online?
3. if I apply for 10 years MERP (Rp5 million - newly created), will it expire when the KITAP and Passport expired? or I can use it in new KITAP in 2028.

Thank you

... the re-entry permit expires in July 2025 ...
As far as I know , it is not mandatory to get a new Re-Entry Permit as soon as the old one expires .
1. what documents do I need to prepare to extend?
From https://sippn.menpan.go.id/pelayana...n-masuk-kembali-multiple-re-entry-permit-merp (Kantor Imigrasi Cilacap)
  1. Foreigner's passport + photocopy
  2. Application Letter from sponsor
  3. Photocopy of sponsor's KTP
  4. Photocopy of KITAP
  5. Photocopy of foreigner's KK & KTP
2. do I go to immigration office or online?
I don't know .
3. if I apply for 10 years MERP ...will it expire when the KITAP and Passport expired? or I can use it in new KITAP in 2028.
I don't know .
I assume you want to avoid getting 2 more Re-Entry Permits (2 years + 1 year) . If so , you can ask for a 5years Re-Entry Permit instead of 10 years . This because probably when she gets the unlimited time KITAP , it will automatically come with an unlimited time Re-Entry Permit .

Point not 5. Photocopy of foreigner's KK & KTP.
My wife doesn't have foreigner's KK & KTP. do I need to do anything about this?

Yes she needs to have KK and KTP as they check those documents during kitap renewal. If she doesn't have them they will probably tell her to go away and get them (from catatan sipil) before applying for the kitap extension

You say they need this KK and KTP. Can you please show a photo of what they look like?

By Law foreigners with KITAP were/are required to get KK WNA & KTP WNA (although in the past almost no government officer requested them from us) .They are usually free . Check the procedures & required documents at your city's Disdukcapil website .

I hold an e-ITAS , so I don't have them , but they are similar to the KK & KTP for Indonesians (if you really want to see , you will find their photos by searching the internet - look for "foto KK , KTP-el Warga Negara Asing") .

Foreigners holding KITAP have always been required to have a KTP and KK. Now a days a WNI sponsored KITAP holder is combined in the Sponsors KK with the WNI sponsor being head of household. KTP for foreigners expire at the end of the KIAP period and once a new KITAP is issued they process for a renewal KTP that is good for 5 years. Foreigners KTP are not good for life. Just as with and move you have to report to Immigration, so is it required for KTP at the new CatSip.

It seems to me, if a foreigner is getting the 5 year Kitap visa, Immigration should provide the KK and KTP application at the same time. Are you saying this has to be done separately? From a CatSip? Why not all at once with your sponsor and immigration, while getting the 5 year Kitap visa?

In my view , the Indonesian Government has a lot of other priorities to improve , we should not expect anything like that .
And also , I guess a better action would be to just not require KK & KTP for foreigners with KITAP . I had them once (for 3 years) but never used them for anything (although nowadays the KTP is usually required to open an account in many digital banks) .

Yes . In Indonesia , identity documents , birth certificates , marriage certificate for non-Muslims , death certificates , ... are issued by the cities' Government , popularly known as "Kantor Catatan Sipil" / Civil Registry Office .

I agree that the KK and KTP not be required with the Kitap. Since we cannot work, why would we need these types of documents? Isn't the Kitap visa proof that we live here, but do not work?

We foreigners could do everything without KK & KTP until recently , including work .

Now I know only 2 subjects requiring KTP : to get the Re-Entry Permit from Kantor Imigrasi Cilacap (see my post no.2 above) and to get an account at some digital banks like SeaBank . The first case will disappear in few years when we will not need to request Re-Entry Permits anymore . The second case may also disappear when the digital banks decide to accept the passport from foreigners .

Well , some could also say that with a KTP we can get discount in some Indonesian touristic places .
Isn't the Kitap visa proof that we live here, but do not work?
A valid KITAP is a proof that we are permitted to stay in Indonesia .

Note : KITAP (ITAP card) is not a visa . In Indonesia , a Visa becomes a Stay Permit when we enter Indonesia . ITAS and ITAP are 2 types of stay permit .

You can argue you don't need KTP or KK or argue it shouldn't be required at all but, truth be told, as of today still it is the law. When I applied for the KITAS for life, I was required to give copies of my KTP and KK to Immigrations. By law you had a KTTP issued by CatSip with your KITAS so this KTP replaces that need.

I have had the kitas stay permit now for the forth year. It will expire in June, at which time I will apply for the five year Kitap stay permit. Every year so far, I asked my agent if I had the MERP stamp, and he replied it was on a piece of paper included with my stamped passport. I assume this upcoming June that the MERP stamp will put on my passport, instead of on that additional piece of paper. I didn't go to a Catsip for this MERP. My agent told me I had received it with the returned stamped passport. I'm confused about this. Please tell me, was he correct in saying I had the MERP on that paper, or was he pulling my leg?
I asked him several times about this, and he reassured me and said the MERP was on that paper. This could have been a major problem for me, if I had assumed I had the MERP, and left the country, then returned to find out I was deceived! Please someone tell me what you think?

Merp is from Immigration.

Merp is from Immigration.
Thanks, so since I moved last year, I had the get the Surat Pindah, then I got the Surat Domicili. From someone near where I live now. I had to get from them the proof I live here, A copy of their KTP, and all the other things required to get my Kitas permit. So if I have to get the KK and KTP in June, for my five year Kitap permit, I will repeat the process again. When That time comes, I will ask my agent for all the documents required to get my Kitap permit.
This kind of stuff stresses me out. I come from a laid back country lifestyle, where all this paperwork is not needed. I'm glad if I get the five year Kitap permit, I won't have to deal with this madness again for five years, unless I want to move location. I think it's ridiculous, we have to go through such a hassle to notify the Government we moved somewhere else on this small island! I don't understand why they want to know so much information about where you live here.

I know the Law , I was just giving my view on the subject (who knows that by miracle the Indonesian Government take it in consideration) .

It looks like somebody recently came with this idea , because they were not required 2 years ago (see below) .

... The required documents for an ITAP extension application are as follows:
Fill in the Perdim provided at the Immigration Office;
Photocopy of passport;
Letter of Guarantee from the Sponsor on a Rp 10,000 stamp;
Photocopy of the Guarantor/Sponsor's KTP;
Letter of Application from the Guarantor/Sponsor;
Photocopy of the previous KITAP;
Photocopy of the Name Change Letter from the Court (if the name has changed);
Photocopy of Marriage Certificate/Marriage Report (for family unification);
Photocopy of RPTKA, IMTA and DPKK (if for work);
NIB, Company Deed and AHU Determination Letter (for Investors).

Because you are permanent resident with KITAP?

Your agent is correct and you can check your passport again . There you will see "LIMITED STAY & RE-ENTRY PERMIT" .

Note : I have avoided to say MERP because Immigration names it as Re-Entry Permit .

As you may have not noticed , they apply similar idea for the Indonesians (the KTP includes not only their address , but also : RT/RW , Kelurahan/Desa , Kecamatan , Religion , Civil Status , Work , Citizenship) .
The important difference is that we comit a crime if we don't report changes in our data to the Immigration (3 months jail or Rp25 million fine) .

But don't be stressed much , because in more than 25 years in Indonesia , I never heard of anybody who got charged with jail or fine related to that .

Each foreigner who do not perform his/her obligations as stipulated in Article 71 shall be punished with a maximum confinement of 3 months or a fine of up to Rp25,000,000.

I wasn't aiming my reply at you. Everyone who thinks they know what to do.

As for you not required to have KTP and KK for your KITAP 2 years ago, I had to produce them 4 years ago. Not that either immigration was right or wrong, just shows they all think they know something differently. A problem many have faced for a lot of years.
