Married abroad, mixed religion, with one party being Muslim must now be registered at KUA, and the other party must convert.

Even within Indonesia many years ago nobody cared and there are quite many couples who still have different religions (recorded). As my parents-in-law and some of their friends for instance.

The answer that no one ever gives is how this affects those married years ago outside Indonesia and are registered with CatSip and have their Indonesian Government certificate saying they are married. Grandfathered? Have to change?
That's my case, and those of a lot on this forum. It would be interesting to see them try to declare a marriage invalid, decades after registering it as valid. And which UU would provide the legal basis for that? I don't think the UU about marriage mentions mixed religion marriages, so it would need to be changed first.

I believe that the law states that if the overseas marriage was registered at an overseas Indo consulate, then all is fine, regardless of religion.

Good. Ours was and then at CatSip upon arrival.

Just a quick note on this topic: I went to our local dukcapil a few days ago for an issue related to my KITAP , and the very first thing that the staff asked after seeing my KITAP asked was whether I was a Muslim or not. :pray2:

A second person came in to give a form to the staff who was helping us....and his first question was whether I was a Muslim or not.:noidea:

My wife had already reminded me to keep quiet when dealing with those types (I need constant reminders due to my very low tolerance for ignorance) so a polite smile stayed until we left.
:cautious:

Couldn't they tell by looking at your KTP?

I am not quite sure about this. But is it not possible they just want to be friendly.
You are in duckcapil part of the home office, where they already have many of your personal information been stored, also it is the office dealing with your KTP.

Just say yes. They not gonna ask to check your foreskin udah sunat

Maybe you get served faster being a bro

Thanks for the replies -- In my post I should have pointed out that we went to the dukcapil only to pick up a form...nothing else.

We entered, asked for the form, and then I was asked about my religion. 🤡

The question had as much relevance as a question about what my favourite food is, or what my shoe size is. Complete and total nonsense. o_O:doh:

Or maybe there's a different form for different religions?
Did you think of that?

:ROFLMAO:(y)🤡 That was hilarious. Thank you.

ja, they also had different forms for smokers and non-smokers...they had to print out one of the non-smokers' forms for me since evidently they don't have much call for those.

I was being semi serious actually, not patronising, if you know what that means lol

They might very well have a different form for muslim WNA and non muslim etc, was just a thought especially pertaining to marriage

Don't go bringing rational thought in here, it's not appreciated.
