Looking for Friends

OK Wait until the next one is in Sentul. But get on the mailing list.

I feel somewhat bad for you, Anusha. You're really in the middle of nowhere.

Do they still have the cricket and family events over there during the weekends? Not to do any racial profiling, me personally I don't even want to get in touch here with people just because they have my citizenship or nationality. Of course you could make the same case cf. expats vs locals.

If you can make it to JakSel, that would help. It's not that far by Grab or so. There are quite some expat bars etc. which are safe and it's never difficult to get in touch with people.

I can manage around 30 Km radius, that way south Jakarta is also fine. And I am ok with any nationality, I just need to know someone who can understand my language to communicate.

For those who are like "what the hell is he talking about?": the cricket fields in Cibubur are/were quite popular with Jakartans from Indian descent during the weekends.

But that would even take you to the North?! Can be nice too, a bit more wild and chaotic though.

Yes, language can be a real issue here. And the tremendous catch-up effort with so many sending their kids to national+ schools, doesn't help you of course. Most locals are friendly but many are also rather shy, which doesn't make it any easier to communicate. And it depends also on how long you (expect to) stay to determine if it makes sense to learn a new language.
