Lifetime Kitap processing time

Anyone have recent experience with the current processing time for the renewal of a first spousal sponsored Kitap to the lifetime one? I'm traveling overseas a fair bit for work, and handing over the passport for three months like I did with the first Kitap would be inconvenient, work-wise. Appreciate any info.

I am curious as well. I have to renew in January. My last renewal was over 3 months and I am hoping that things are better now.

I got back from an old acquaintance today. His family submitted his paperwork in June. Still on process as per Friday.

I took care of my husband's in the middle of COVID, it took us almost 4 months. I suspect it would be 4-5 months now.

Went to my local immigration office to discuss this issue. Was told 3 months +/-, mainly due to the time taken by DitJen in Jakarta. Apparently, they've decided to ignore the President's order to improve the efficiency of immigration procedures.

From top to bottom it seems to be a trickle down effect when it comes to policy changes. A bit like the spurious economic trickle down effect which I suspect doesn't actually work. More like osmosis with a trickle up economic effect with profit from productivity being squeezed up towards the top. Not sure how long it will take for the President's order to take effect... if ever.

Ah, yes, I remember in The US when Dtrump gave all the rich executives and large corporations tax breaks and charged the poor more taxes! and said the wealth would be a trickle down effect to the masses. It seems the profits only trickled down to their pockets!

Definitely trickle up in this case. My local immigration office claims it takes them a very short time to process the file for the lifetime Kitap extension, and that the holdup is at immigration HQ in Jakarta, where only an approval is needed and yet where the file sits literally for months waiting for the DitJen's signature.

Well they have to have something to put their Martabak on!

Interesting. For Kitap extension it indicates a total of 18 working days. That would be fine if true. I guess the reality is that DitJen Jakarta is free to ignore their own guidelines.

Thinking about this issue .. why do they need one's passport? To stamp? That's so tempo dulu!

Valid question. It's ridiculous to embargo one's international travel for up to three months, especially for a renewal.

If it's anything like my initial Kitas then it's actually a tick box on the computer. I went to Jakarta to ask at the HQ and the next day I was able to collect after almost 4 months of bugging my local imigrasi and them saying it's just waiting on Ditjen approval.

Will be applying for conversion to Kitap next so hopefully it moves faster 😅

Update on lifetime Kitap processing time. I applied on 25th January and was informed today that collection of my passport and new Kitap seumur hidup can be done on 4th March. So a total of 39 days in process, or 24 working days, given a couple of intervening public holidays. Thankfully not the three months that the local Imigrasi office had mentioned was possible.

I got mine within one week... but mine is company-sponsored (investor) KITAP.

It somehow feels better when you finally get your "lifetime" Kitap. Of course we still have to present all the paper work all over again in five years and report that we are still alive but at least then don't have to pay.

New President and Ministers come October. Let's see what changes the new ones bring to the table.
