Lifetime KITAP extension (my experience)

So...my new agent has been helping me in doing the alih sponsor, and might as well he helps with the extension too...well whaddayaknoww....neeew 'regulation' (moving to a new system, blablla) requires me to have a 'new' KITAP and of course the word new means more money!

We had talked in this group about the difference between limited kitap with "date of expiry" vs unlimited kitap 'date of report'...apparently that will be considered old kitap...the new kitap (at least electronic one) will have the actual word unlimited and the "5 year MERP" will have the note in the system "unlimited" also according to the immigration officer (per my agent). Paid 10 mill for this 'new kitap incl merp'+ some for the alih sponsor.

I won't hold my breath for 5 years....maybe in year 4 11 month they'll come up with something else! "Sorry the word is changed from unlimited to without limit and that'll be another 7 million pak" (hey it could happen!)

Assuming you mean 'time unlimited' = 'lifetime' , there is no extension for it .

1. Sorry i know unlimited kitap is not necessary to be 'extended' i just meant to report before the due date as required on the kitap
2. It was what i was told the 'unlimited' kitap had 'date of report' vs 'date of expiry' that was discussed quite a bit in this forum too and the supposedly 'e-kitap' that i'll bet getting will have 'unlimited' now instead of date of expiry.

Just sharing my experience in getting my 'new' kitap. Sorry to cause confusion and hope it doesn't turn into back and forth (too tired to do today!)

That is exactly what it sounds like to me and exactly what I was afraid of happening when he first mentioned getting an agent involved.

I think my agent (at least i feel so) is not the typical dishonest agent vs the previous one who told me that if I changed sponsor, i have to start again from 0 and he was gonna charge me 45 million for it. i think it was more about the immigration now trying to find ways to earn money whenever they see an agent representing a WNA always comes up with different excuses to charge money. At least that's how i feel.

the change of sponsor is inevitable since my dad was my sponsor originally (before i got married) and he is getting quite old, so even though it's a pain in the ass dealing with the immigration, etc it's something that had to be done (screwed or not).

that last point about the '7 million' was my attempt at humor/sarcasm. As i was promised (at least my agent told me that what was promised to him' that there won't be any more charges as it's an 'unlimited kitap/IMK' when I 'report' again in 5 years.

You are mistaken , in my view . Now in the online system , Immigration doesn't know if there is an agent involved , unless the agent himself/herself intentionally tells Immigration .

Could you explain us why you believe that , by paying around Rp10 million you will get a 'time unlimited' KITAP & MERP/IMK that cost Rp23 million (see my post no.2 above) ?

This is why calling it a 'Lifetime KITAP' is not appropriate .

An ITAP ends if:

• its holder leaves Indonesia for more than 1 continuous year ;
• its holder is deported;
• the foreigner's passport expires and the Residence Permit's data is not updated;

...

Sorry sir if you were confused it was unfortunate (it was more than 10 million btw more like 18 mill including alih sponsor etc but let's just leave it at that )Kinda don't want to start going back and forth explaining my situation since it's very well different (lots of background info, officer suddenly said things were different etc) than maybe what you've experienced and/or understand from immigration law. And no i did not delay my report. As a matter of fact i reported 2 months earlier.Request kindly to just chalk this up as different experience and hope to just move on from the discussion.

And my plea to the forum. Some of us prefer to use agents to help with our immigration stuff for whatever reasons we have. Yes some of us either got reasonable price some were robbed. Some tried to do things themselves (like me with my first kitap and ktp renewal/changing due to photo issues-- not gonna relive my 4 months stressful ordeal) my hope is that this place can be a safe place for us to really exchange information without feeling like we have to answer more questions or even being judged or bullied by our choice of using agents. I figure i wanna mention that first since i have seen people debate each other (not always constructively) about use of agents, doing things different ways etc. When we are just following what we're told and not that we didnt question it (like i did with the fees) but often i feel like we dont have the choice or the time or energy to debate with the immigration officers.

I agree, when we post our opinions they should be respected, not judged, or criticized. Or especially, The Trolls should Not Criticize the Poster, that's just Rude and Childish! The guidelines of the Forum plainly state. Discuss the topic, not judge, and say insulting words to the other posters! When someone does this, it can discourage People from getting involved on the forum!

Let me clarify a bit.. The change of sponsor did not change my unlimited status (only one of the agents trying to scare me by saying i had to start all over again which i refused. Looked for another agent which i posted my experience also of not using.. (Although different than my other agent she did say that even though you switch sponsor it does NOT change your "unlimited" kitap status). Soooo with this latest agent i have, I did have to pay some money originally to do the actual change of sponsor, but at that time.. He said no additional money would be needed since they were going to convert my kitap to an e-kitap anyway. Awesome, right? Now a week+ later he did say the immigration officer said due to changes in the way they're doing things- literally the whatsapp to me says "karena perubahan dari sistem lama ke sistem baru", and creating my new e-kitap in the system they require additional 8 mill for the IKM+3 mill for "opr fee" but i negotiated to 2 mill and my agent said the officer approved with the explanation was the ikm is going to be "unlimited" also. This is what i was told. Anyway as confusing as unnecessary seemingly some of the process was, i will be getting my passport back with the ekitap barcode and the "unlimited" Ikm soon and we'll see how it goes in 5 years!

Just to clarify to people who don't know :

KITAP = Kartu Izi Tinggal Tetap = Permanent Residence Permit's card
e-ITAP (or e-KITAP?) = Izin Tingall Tetap elektronik = Permanent Residence Permit (that we receive in a PDF file)

So , you don't 'convert' one into the other as they are basically the same thing , and from the Regulation (see below) , both forms of ITAP are usually available when an ITAP is approved .

Poster's Note : it is a little strange that the Regulation call both ITAP forms as ITAP card .

I Will NOT share what i will get since it is clear from the beginning of this thread until this last post you just keep finding mistakes in my thread and posting this so called correction calling things strange etc. Calling my agent not credible after passive aggressively say you appreciate me sharing the experience. Even after one of the mods said to just let rest. I tried to tell you already and politely that i do not wish to go back and forth on this but apparently it was not clear enough for you. If i tell you what "permit" i get who knows what kind of wrong thing you will find and try to correct it..For what purpose did you really wanna know? To dissect it even more? I am not obligated to answer your questions. STOP it man. Find better things to do find other people's post to correct.
