You say the US has 800 military bases and China has two. The Chinese are smart and don't have to use Military force to gain control of nations, they use money as a tool to get countries obligated to give them rights to land, minerals, resources, etc. this subject is like talking about religion, politics, race, rich, ,or poor. No one will ever agree and it always turns into an argument over the others opinion. When will people ever learn to just get along, and accept each others differences! It is an age old practice the best way to conquer is to divide! There is no number 1, or 2, or 3, we are all just stupid humans that are hell bent on destroying this planet we live on!

Peace love and rock and roll. Really? The first two are but a pipe dream. I'll you you what. I am of the impression the only thing you know about war is what you have read or heard from others. My impression of you is that you have never actually been involved in warfare. I have.

War is ugly. Many times not fair. I have seen the ugliest part of war. The damage it can do to the human body including the taking of it's life. I have prayed while not a believer with the suffering. I have held hands and told people how great they were when reality was in mere minutes their life would be drained from their body. I had no qualms about yelling at superior officers who interfered with whatever procedures I was attempting to try and save a limb, a lung, a heart, or a life. Yeah, I seen the ugly part.

Ask anyone who has been active in a war and they will be the first to tell you they hate war and wish everyone could live in peace. They will also tell you they know that while many may want peace, there are always those that want to threaten that peace. It is for that reason nations need deterrents against any other nation bringing harm upon them. It has been proven that the best deterrents are those that show force. The military and it's weapons.

World peace? Not going to happen until maybe the Earth get's invaded and after a bloody war gets taken over by an alien world. Until then, we can preach our peace and love within our own social reaches and as for rock and roll, it will never die.

And, any time a nation says they no longer want a base there the US leaves. They also take along billions of dollars spent on renting the bases and what military personnel and families spend on living expenses and other items. The US military also has a lot of local hire personnel that would be out of a job.

Someone here that thinks because china throws money at nations they are something smart.Addup what the US pays for their bases and foreign aid and china couldn't hold a bucket to it.

You're right about that. I believe it probably just boils down to not having a Russian base 50 miles off the US Coast. Remember that missile thing.

I said I don't support any nation promoting military build up and perpetuating the same destructive attitude that has kept people at war for centuries! I say stop the Bombs and senseless killing of civilians, Women, Children. And conquering other peoples lands and homes. Let peace have a chance!

Building a strong army doens't mean you are a war monger. Rather you need strong armies to prevent war; to deter your enemies from attacking you. Look at Ukraine, they gave up their atomic weapons and Putin attacked them, thinking he could easily invade them and take over control.

The US also knows that when it comes to advising other nations, all they can do is advise. It is still up to those nations to make their own decisions.

Wow. The US has undeniably played a role in several regime changes around the world, sometimes through direct military intervention, sometimes not. Overtly and covertly supporting coups d'état or influencing foreign elections. They are doing much more than 'advising'.

I knew this would become a US is the bad guy but, better be glad they do what they do. Not always perfect. Not always pretty. It could get a lot worse too.

Destabilizing countries, causing and participating in many (civil) wars is not perfect nor pretty at all. It has caused immense suffering around the globe. But I agree, if other countries were to take the leading role in military power, things could be worse.
