Either way, I don't sleep much... but then again niether did Churchhill or Napoleon....

or Einsten..or Indonesia first president Soekarno. But oh well..one was a damn world inventor and the other one was a leader of a country.

Soekarno may have spent the time looking over his shoulder?

Do not have supper/diner too late
Take the dog ( borrowed or imaginary) for a walk
Write down what you plan to do the next day.
Watch a veery slow UK crime drama
Drink some cocoa/Horlicks
Go to bed
Use the relax everything technique to fall asleep.

That's the official version

Mine substitutes for 4 & 5 for two large bottles of Heineken/Bintang equivalent and a session of solving the world's problems.

My typical pattern is: go to bed ridiculously early (by 9), read until 10 or 11, fall asleep, wake up around 1 or 2 feeling wide awake, struggle to go back to sleep, wake up at 4 hoping it is late enough for me to get up, and manage to stay in bed until 5am, when I bounce out of bed.

I can stay up to socialize until 10 or 11 pm if I have to, but I am always anxious to go home. I wish I had more energy at night. On the other hand, feeling peppy early in the morning is great.

As for you, Mr. King, is there such a thing as a vampire monkey? Maybe they are related to the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz?

Very similar to my patterns... Though I am usually in bed by 8.00ish

That is when you are supposed to take the dog for a walk.

Well I met Pusp & seems to be the type who thrives on nervous energy, this ain't really going to be compatible with good long comatose sleep.

As for you Mr Willy, is this a recent thing ,connected to certain stresses in life? Or is it some kind of established sleep pattern?

Something that might help is to forget about having massive chunks of sleep as being essential. Sleep patterns average on 90minutes to cycle through. So aim for 2 or 3 sleep cycles rather than the touted norm of 8 hours.

So you and Pusp might well feel refreshed enough after two/three full sleep cycles. Personally I think you are going to bed waaaaaaaay too early.

Me , I play on my computery thingies/ games/ skype with friends/family etc. or work until around 2 or 3 am, then I am tired out but still have active-brain-itch (<it should be a thing but isn't official yet).
I go sit up on the roof terrace with a cup of water, my book & a farting French Bulldog.
& I enjoy the fresh air, the views & read a little while. Then I get into bed to read, & invariably wake up 6 hours later with the book/kindle attached to my face like a suction cup.
As I tend not to get to bed until 4 or 5 am its usually 10/11 before I start to reanimate.
However in Jakarta , I sleep in the 3 hour chunks at night, but I am exhausted by lunchtime to try & co-ordinate my schedule that I can grab 1 or 2 more cyles of sleep.

Its surely all some (undiagnosed) ADHD thing... & that's what I think we all have - but I don't properly know you KW... & I would like to think of you as a vampire- how sexy is that?

A guy with ADHD walks into a bar....

Hey look a squirrel

I didn’t me to hurt his feelings but I expect he knows he is ugly, so We don’t have to tell him

Try turning down the lights when the sun sets. Only warm lights and not too bright. If you need to use computer/gadgets, use a blue light filter app/setting.

On my PC, I use a program called f.lux which changes the color of my screen matching with the sun setting time in Indonesia. It makes the screen color much more warm.

On my phone (Android Nougat based), there is a built-in blue light filter which also makes the screen having a yellow/orange tint. I believe it's also available in one of the last iOS versions.

Just trying out the f.lux software that you recomended @El_Goretto,
It makes everything quite yellow.. is that supposed to be like this or am I doing it wrong?
I must admit it is really more relaxing for the eyes.. I will try it for a bit.. for reading and writing on the computer it is probably very good.. I always feel my eyes getting tired so quickly.
Thanks for the good advice

Yes that's how it's supposed to be. It's quite shocking at first. I think you can turn down the strength a bit.

Yes hehe but now its ok, in the morning it seems to be brighter than at night.
I can already recommend, since I searched for ages for the settings on my laptop lcd.. nothing there,
I can only set the brightness, not the contrast etc..
This seems to do it all in one, so I'm glad you mentioned it.

Thanks

And it's automatic too. So during the day it will turn off.

It should be able to also detect applications (or you can whitest them) where you don't want the blue light filter (for instance on a photo editing software).

I do get enough sleep, but my pattern is messed up. Regardless how many hours I sleep, I usually feel sleepy by around 7-8ish (and usually wakes up around 10). Facebook, youtube, checking my stocks at least until 1-2 everyday before I go to sleep. Interestingly the moment I'm on US soil...I always feel sleepy by 11ish (i can stay up later if needed) and always up at 7:30 the latest. Maybe it's psychological that in Indonesia I feel like 11-2 o'clock is my 'me' whether messaging friends on facebook or looking at youtube videos.
